Wednesday-6:30am

My folks came to visit and I had to get pictures of this! First time Karma was friendly since she was maybe two years old! Someone else got to see the Karma I know! Maybe greeting her when they came in the door helped? Who knows!
Don't know what came over her--hehe! Karma loves to be combed and she actually let my mom comb her for a long, long time. If I didn't have these pictures nobody would believe it--ROFL!
Maybe Karma's turned a new leaf? She hasn't been hiding the bedroom when Dagan and Leah come over anymore--but she hides under the end table or the art table. (Dagan and Leah said they are not holding their breath--ROFL!) Who knows the mysterious Karma mind--hehe!
****
Karma hung out for a while with my dad on the porch. My folks are retired Floridians and accustomed to the heat. They both get cold in the air conditioning (notice the sweater and jacket in pictures). Dad wanted to sit out on the porch where he could warm up--hehe! Karma kept him company. [It was less humid--still is today! I have the windows open right now--65 degrees--whoohoo!]
Dagan came by after work. We dropped Grandma and Grandpa's car and things off at the motel and then we all went over to Dagan and Leah's place. Had burgers on the grill, salad, and broccoli (my mom and I had boca burgers). I cut mine up and chewed very carefully and slowly--no jolting incidents--tada!
****
While we were sitting there a mother turkey and her babies went strolling past!
I've never had a chance to see more than one lone turkey before. This was exciting! Seven babies following the mom as she strutted along--all of them catching bugs in the grass as they meandered across the lawn on the edge of the woods.
Here's Grandma and Dagan at the table...
...and Grandpa and Leah.
While we were sitting around gabbing the mother turkey and babies went racing across the lawn in the opposite direction. You can see them here in the distance at the end of the next building. What scared them off?
A gang of young males. (The smaller one could be a young female, but the bigger three are definitely red wattled.)
Bad boys! Bad boys! Whatcha gunna do?
I wonder if they would actually try to hurt or kill the baby turkeys? The mother sure ran off with her babies at her heels!
Well, it was a guilty conscience and not mouth pain that got me up really early without much sleep last night. During the course of the conversation around the table last night I was talking for a while with little sympathy about a person we know who's always been condescending, insulting, judgmental...
****
Well, I woke up being chastised by G.A. and reminded that I was being judgmental--and, therefore, was being just the same as the person I was talking about. There is no excuse. Not even facts or truths, you know? Yes, that person personally hurt me many times over the years and I watched them hurt others--but my own ego/emotions blind me, continues the cycle of negativity, and prevents love and forgiveness.
****
Loving your enemies ain't easy--hehe! Loving people who love you is easy, but I believe we are here to learn spiritual lessons. Easy doesn't usually get our attention or test our beliefs or challenge us to learn something new. Enemies...they are a spiritual goldmine!! ;)
****
I got a kick in the pants from my guardian angel today (who doesn't let me get by with much--hehe!)--so I am reminding myself with multiple quotes about judgment. I felt I truly needed more than one. I am ashamed of myself.
****
Have a loving day!! :):)

Mother Teresa quote is pretty profound... It sounds like you are having a splendid visit with your parents, turkii and karma combing and hanging out in the heat (with the weed).

:)

p.s., it looks like Leah thinks Grandpop is telling a whopper!

That is so sweet of Karma to let your mother comb her and be near her. I loved the pictures and it looks like everyone had a great time. I love BBQing. That is so funny about the turkeys and I wouldnt be surprised if the males would hurt the babies that seems to be how animals are. I see wild turkeys in the fields out here once in a while, sometimes one and sometimes looks like a whole gang of them.
Your so lucky with your 65 degree weather LOL
Hope you have a fantastic day!

Great pics of Karma with your folks. Looks like she loved them both.

I was wondering if Grandpa was telling Leah a "tall tale" because it looked like he was "measuring" something with his hand. That's a great picture. Was fun to see. :)

I'm glad you all had a nice time together. Family time should be just that.

You got some great shots of those turkeys. (Terri would be envious, right Iggy?) If he wasn't watching a movie with Marty right now, I'd ask him if the males would hurt the little ones. I don't think they would. I have video of males out in the field with the females and babies last year, and they didn't seem to mind one way or the other. (maybe Pennsylvania turkeys are different)

I think we all judge in one way or another. It's human nature. Mother Teresa was one of a kind.

Iggy--We did have a nice time. My dad was describing sandhill cranes--very upset that they are going to let people hunt them again. Cranes are so elegant. :(

Lynn--My mom combed her for a long time. The hair never ends! I told her I had just gotten a big pile about three days before that. And my mom got a big pile, too. Where does all that hair come from with a short-haired cat? She has thick hair like a bear! hehe!

AliceKay--Was so strange! Karma usually runs away from them, too? Who knows? It was nice to see her be herself with someone else besides me. She really can be a sweetheart, but nobody usually sees that. ;) (Family time is usually stressful for me.) I wonder why the mom ran so fast away from the gang of toms? Her babies weren't that tiny anymore? Another mystery critter mind--hehe! I agree--we have a natural tendency to make judgments or comparisons, but we have to be careful with it. GA lets me know sometimes if I am spreading negative energy. So--I have to try to make restitution. I did apologize to Dagan, Leah, and my folks in an email. Apologizing on my blog in a way is like making an apology to God or the universe--and sending out positive instead of negative energy. Don't worry. I don't make a lot of sense to a lot of people--hehe! ;)

Great quotes that you found Rita. I really like them! And so cool about the Turkey Mom and babies! I've never seen that either. It was cool to see your pictures! Looks like you had a nice visit with your parents. I can't believe your Dad is nearing 90! Good for them for staying so active!

I'm glad you had such a great time, and that Karma decided to be so friendly. I bet she'll be back to her old self in no time though. ;)

Jennifer--This is the first time in my life I've seen wild turkeys and babies! They're multiplying since Dagan and Leah moved in two years ago--have been more this summer. Dagan thought that was the second batch of babies! :)

Tori--It was really strange--like she was a different cat! Time will tell--hehe! But I'm not holding my breath either. ;)

How cool that you got to see the wild turkey momma with her babies! I think Karma enjoys baffling everyone with her out-of-character behaviour. What sweet pics of her with your Mum!

I'm impressed that your folks get out and about like they do at their age....well done to them. I'm with your Dad on the sandhill cranes...will we never learn to just appreciate the beauty out there in nature instead of looking for ways to abuse it?

I think we all fall into the trap of saying negative things about others at different times. Like you, I try my best not to judge and offer love and forgiveness instead....not always easy to do tho. Wonderful quotes, Rita...thanks for sharing them with us.

Serena--The young turkeys looked so sweet following mama around catching bugs. I hope people can't shoot them here in town?

I do wonder about Karma and her unpredictability--ROFL! Maybe she just enjoys mind games!? My mom was so surprised by Karma being so nice that she combed and combed her till Karma got tired of it and left--hehe! I am surprised that they still drive all the way up and back from Florida! And how does my dad still pass his driver's exam with one eye? Makes me nervous. Doesn't bother my mother. ??

It is anything but easy to do--ROFL! I keep working at it. GA keeps reminding me--hehe! :):)
