Tuesday-8am

The morning before the blizzard was supposed to arrive.
Saturday morning.  I woke up early--coughing--so I was up before dawn.
I have been coughing here and there for a week, actually.  But since it was only 2-3 times a day I thought maybe it was dry air (even though my electric hair has calmed down now that Dagan closed the air-exchange vents for me).
****
Anyways, the wind sure came roaring in by Saturday afternoon.  We did get the tremendous winds that's for sure...
...but we got very little snow here in Fargo.  So only half the blizzard conditions--but that's a very good thing.
****
Karma was watching tiny twigs caught in the vortex on the patio. At first she was trying to catch them through the glass and was running back and forth.
As you can see, I cracked the patio door a tiny bit so we could really listen to the howling of the wind.  Karma seemed amazed.
Three jackrabbits came bounding past...and the poor grouse!  It was so windy they couldn't fly--no control--they'd almost flip upside-down!  So they were running across the sidewalks and slipping all over on the ice.  The animals seemed to be panicking out there...trying to find a place to hunker down.  I thought they were supposed to sense bad weather coming?  Maybe city grouse aren't as smart that way--LOL!
The wind was fierce all night and was still gusting (they had predicted 50-60mph) with great force on Sunday.
But, as you can see, we didn't get much snow at all.  Of course, with that wind whatever we did get could have been blown right on into Minnesota--LOL!
****
You may notice that my metal glider chair...
...was picked up and moved several feet!
It was still being whipped back and forth on Sunday and the back feet were being lifted right off the ground.  I was afraid of it being actually blown over and dented or damaging something so I wanted to lay it down on its side.
My patio screen door was frozen shut (eg: it's 10 degrees right now), so I decided to go around outside since my patio is the closest one next to the sidewalk out there it would be easy.  I bundled up...thought I was being really careful...but fell down hard on my right knee on the icy sidewalk.  Managed to get up, go over to lay the chair down, and limp ever so carefully home.
So, I spent the last couple days with my feet up babying this lovely, swollen knot on my knee.  I can move it and bend it so it's fine--don't worry.  Jolted my hip bones a bit, too--LOL!  It's already better than it was by today...but...now I woke up this morning unable to breathe because my entire head is both stuffed and leaking--and I'm occasionally coughing, too, for good measure.  I guess I have been fighting a cold after all, ya think?  Come on, immune system!  Let's get back in the game here!  (Don't let that remark fool you into thinking I may have watched football this weekend--don't even know who played--LOL!)
****
Tonight there is a pot luck here in the community room.  Our first official meeting.  (I knew I would be in no shape to cook or bake so I had bought some bakery cookies when I was shopping with Leah.)  But now--I am in no shape to go at all.  The limping wouldn't have stopped me, but I don't want to go coughing and snotty and spreading germs around.  So I will call the lady in charge today and let her know that my suggestion would be to set up the library outreach program here.  They wanted people to come and share ideas as to what kind of things we want to do/have here.
****
So that is what has been happening since Friday--LOL!  Embarrassing to admit.  First the ice fall.  And then to be sick AGAIN!  Dang it, anyways.  Well, at least I have been writing letters every day.  That and Netflix I can manage.  Karma loves all the extra comfy chair time...so somebody's really happy over my misfortune--ROFL!  It's a good thing you can't spread germs through a keyboard, though.
****
Oh, I forgot to take a picture of what I am drinking for T-Stands For Tuesday!  I've got my cell right next to me...just a minute.
There's my trusty red mug filled with Starbuck's french roast coffee.  :)
****
I'm not at the kitchen table where I normally am all morning.  I'm using my laptop table at my chair so I can keep my knee up...
...which Miss Karma is quite happy about.
(But she wasn't happy about me waking her up for pictures--LOL!)
Oh no!  I just realized that I never got Elizabeth's Tuesday T-Day post...so I will have to go search for it.
****
Yes, she had one and I linked it.  This means that either my "follow by email" is acting up--once again--or it's google messing with my emails--once again.  I need to go check my spam folder.  *sigh*
****
Good thing I am able to laugh at all of this nonsense--LOL!
It is still going to be a good day.
Just ask Karma.  ;)

Poor thing! One of my big fears is falling and having a long recovery. Would be so hard to get back into working out regularly again. Be more careful, Rita, for heaven's sake – LOL! Sickness abounds here as well. I had that coughing thing which sapped my energy and made for rough sleeping for two weeks. And both grandsons are fighting it also. Jonah's caused a sinus infection that resurrected his asthma! Geez! Spring can't come soon enough!

Ouch. The ground has to be beyond cement hard when it gets that cold! I bet with the wind howling - you don't have to crack the patio door open very far!

Virtual "germ-free" hugs to you and Karma. Get all well soonest!

Oh, your poor knee and now a cold, too. Stay safe from all that wind and feel better soon! Glad Karma seems to be back to her self again!

Oh my...sounds like my week! I also fell last Tuesday...hit my head and knee. Saw stars...not good. My knee has some wicked colors on it now. The virus I have sounds like yours. Did it blow down here in the blizzard? We also got very little snow...just drifting in the usual spots.
Hope you and me get better quick!!!!!
Happy T day!

Karma seems to be listening to the wind with great concentration. :) Stay warm and safe in these cold winter days.

What a terrible thing to happen, and just when you wanted to put your chair down. I spent half of yesterday uprighting my wicker chairs and table on my porch, and running down my luminaries that line my lawn. Thankfully, I didn't have snow, but the wind was reported to have sustained 58 mph winds long enough to be considered gale force, and not just "gusts." I hope your swollen knee has improved by the time you read this, but I know how painful that can be.

Starbucks French Roast. That's my kind of coffee, although mine is by another manufacturer who is Fair Trade and organic certified. That's a nice cup for your pens, too.

Hope your "follow by e-mail" is sorted by now, and all is well with the world. Thanks for linking and sharing your poor knee, your windy neighborhood, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday.

what a week you've had Rita! With all that wind though it's a good thing you didn't lose power. At least Karma was entertained by the storm:) I'm always fearful of falling and breaking something. So glad you only got a nasty bump and nothing more debilitating. Now rest lots and get well. Happy T day!

Thank goodness for a sense of humour.

When life throws lemons at you make lemon juice. I am so glad that you have a cosy comfy place to live and that there’s a good atmosphere in the place. You will get better and you will go to the potlucks and you will make friends with your neighbours. I am totally sure that it will be so.

Stay upright, stay happy, stay busy. And take care.

When you said you were going outside to rescue your chair, I thought, "oh no!" and sure enough, you fell. And now you're sick. Oh darn on both fronts! Hopefully you're only in for a short setback. Love the pictures of Karma. :-)

Oh how I don't miss all the days when I would cough for hours day and night, never found out why I coughed so much just did for 9 years and then it stopped just like that.

I would love to go on another holiday to the snow and maybe one day we will

Sounds like a smart moving staying home and just giving your body a little rest time. And love seeing all the photos of Karma. I miss my cat which I lost last summer (and can't quite bring myself to get a new one yet) and your photos give me a warm feeling and good memories.

That's some serious wind. It was 57 degrees here Saturday afternoon. WDW thought he would freeze to death. I hope your snotty coughing goes away soon.

Oh my! Between not coughing, not feeling well, and then falling you've had quite the week. My mom always said to take a phone out with me when I was outside along in case anything happened. With these frigid days, if you go out alone I hope you take a phone with you. I'm happy to hear you were able to get back inside safely where it was warm and you could heal. Plus, Karma can always sit with you and keep you warm. :)

I hope you are on the mend from that fall. A couple weeks ago, we had some rain overnight then the temps dropped into the 20's, and I fell on my sidewalk. Hard on my left knee, and strained my left tricep. Just a scrape, and the muscle strain gets better every day. But you really have to watch yourself during the winter. I used to never have problems like this, and now I've fallen twice in one season! And I'm getting sick again too. So far, a cough, but now the nose wants to join in and start dripping. Ugh! I really hoped my bronchitis from December was it. Guess not!

Goodness what cold weather. Sure sorry to hear about your fall and glad it wasn't worse than it was which was bad enough. I'm impressed that you are keeping up with the letters.

As I was reading your post I thought "I hope she doesn't fall".....too late! I swear the ground gets harder every year....and the old song of bones being connected to other bones??? SO TRUE....LOL! We don't have the fridge weather, but I did manage to slide right off the end of a park bench Monday......buttocks still sore today!

I'm glad to hear that you are staying off your leg, now to get rid of that bug your fighting!

Our weather is teasing us with "spring-like" temperatures, getting into the 70s this week. I even threw open all the windows yesterday....was nice.

Belated T-day wishes and stay safe my friend!

I'm glad you didn't break anything in that fall. Winter weather can be very dangerous. I hope your knee heals quickly so you can get out and about soon. Sorry to hear you're getting sick again. It seems to be that time of year for sickness. I've had it for almost a month now. I'll think it's going away but then it returns. I hope you feel better soon. *hugs*

It sounds like it gets as windy there as it does in Wyoming...I remember it well. The poor grouse and jackrabbits...I hope they all found a safe refuge.

OH NO on your fall!!! I guess a positive take would be that you obviously don't have osteoporosis or you would have suffered a broken bone. Rest up.

No good about your cold. We are in the middle of Summer here and Aaron has a very nasty cold that he decided to share with me. Mind you, so far I am only have minor cold symptoms but poor Aaron is not a happy boy. I mentioned to the Chemist staff that it was so odd to have a cold/flu in the middle of Summer and she said that there seems to have been an outbreak of the cold/flu in recent weeks. So weird.

Anyway, I hope you are resting up and will be better very soon.

Love and hugs xo
