Monday-2pm

Good afternoon!
Pink sunset clouds were so pretty.
Was a quiet week.  Yesterday was the only day I could stand to leave the place open all day.  Even if it was a bit damp, was a nice break to have some fresh air.  Annie loved it, of course.  She spent half the day scaring the birds away on a real power trip--LOL!
****
I ordered something really silly--a set of Jinhao shark pens on Amazon.
Yes, they have a shark's head for a cap.
They come as regular nib or hooded nib fountain pens.  I got the hooded nibs.  They came with a converter, no ink--but I have tons of inks.
A few were hard to get started, but once I got them going they have all been working well.  They were $12.74 for seven pens!  Really inexpensive.  What a hoot!  Wait till Ian sees shark pens--LOL!
****
Speaking of--no Gramma Day this week because Ian was starting to get a cold/cough so passed till next week.  Leah did come over on Wednesday night, though.  She made a card she needed and helped me with some techie questions I had.  And we discussed the fact that I need more room for Ian and Liam's stuff--LOL!
****
Ian's shelf in my little Ikea cart is packed to the top--and we raised it up, too--LOL!
So I am thinking of some kind of extra shelves that can go on top of the cube set in the corner of the living room.  I think Leah picked this one up at Target.  I can always store the push toy in the pantry or hallway.
But those cube shelves are not wide enough to hold the set of colorful satchels I bought a long time ago that I have stored on top of one of the bookcases in the hallway.
So, time to search around for the perfect shelves.  ;)
****
My tiny little icon stamps arrived from Australia.  I love them!  I went with grey for the health stickers: eyedoctor, dentist, doctor.  (Six inch red ruler is for size comparison.)
But I went with colors for the rest: Blogger icon, sewing machine, cards, calligraphy nib, paint pallet, and exercise.  She really had a lot of icons to pick from you don't always see!
Got one sheet called the study mix because it had a lot of paper and pen stuff on it.
You could pick matte finish or shiny and tiny or mini on many of them.  I love the smallest ones for my calendar so they don't take up as much space and I'm a matte girl.  These were from PeacefulmindDesign.etsy.com if anyone is interested.  I haven't done a link for so long I hope this worked.  Anyways, I obviously liked them because I don't often "promote"--LOL!  They were only $1.99 to $2.10 per sheet which is really good if you have ever bought icon stamps.  She mailed them out quickly and they took two weeks to get here.  Worth the wait!
****
So--short and sweet today.  I haven't been up to much this past week.  Knee and hip have been bothering me--could be the damp weather?  Who knows?  So--since it's harder to walk around a lot I've done some binge watching: Proof on Acorn TV, Low Winter Sun which Netflix will drop in August, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee on Netflix, and now I am re-watching season one of West World on HBONow before I watch season two (yup--liked it that much, strange as it is--or maybe because it is so strange--lol!).
****
For me this is brief, eh?  :) :)
Stay cool or warm as the case may be.
Until next week...

Kind of sounds like a different version of this sentiment I've heard all my life..."It will all come out in the wash".

Another one that has come to mind a lot lately..."Give 'em enough rope..."

Hi Rita - we are having a very hot week (for us, nothing like your area's HIGH heat). Our temps have been up to 32 degrees C which is 90 degree F. My friend Val has been making a small area in my front yard into a wider parking strip with pavers and bricks AND has made a 28" wide paver path to our main sidewalk from where my husband gets out of his car. So much safer and in the winter he won't be stepping into mud, instead he will be stepping onto the walk way. We are just starting our 70's and we know safety is so important (we have each fallen a couple of times in the past 2 years and it takes quite awhile to recover enough to carry on. Ian will have lots of fun next time he has a Grandma Day with those shark-head pens.
Hugs

Those shark pens are really cool. I'm thinking of buying some oil pastels, once I can get out to the local stationers and art shop. Unfortunately it's impossible to cycle because of one way streets. I am so grateful that cycling doesn't hurt.

Look like you're having fun with all you pens.

I just started watching GLOW on Netflix and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel on Amazon and am enjoying them both. These days I need some comedy to keep myself feeling positive. Glad to hear from you, as always, Rita. :-)

Sounds like you feel very well up to knee and hip.
All so well organized - You remind me of my neighbour and friend Maria - she is also a grandma of two little boyss ( they are so charming both) and always is watching for toys for them when we visit the thrift store. And she has an extra room in her house for her boys. Official it is her studio for sewing but there is all for the boys in.
This pens are so fun and really a good price and also this stickers seem to be a hit!
Wishing you all the best and great that you post contimually!
Hugs, Susi

You get such great photos of clouds. That pink, so pretty!

What a find on those pens!

I trust all illness has past now. Summer colds are discouraging :( Finding space for things we need for kids can be a challenge. I've used cubes and stacked things before, too, so I trust that'll give you some good accessible space :) I'm unfamiliar with all of those shows except West World, so I'm out of the loop on those lol

We're getting such hot weather, but I've heard there may be some rain and some cooler temps. Maybe :)

Ian will like your new pens! I am enjoying having the windows open, we are a bit cooler than you. Been to your city the past two days, airport and a visitation. I am real tired today. I need a whole day maybe two to recover. Off to the Eye Dr the infection is back. :( :(

Love the clouds. Beautiful photos. Also loved the photo showing how you raised Ian's cart tray. Those shark pens are adorable and the stickers are lovely. I've never heard of icon stickers before, but they will be useful in your calendar/planner.

How did you find out what is being dropped from Netflix? I have a friend who has it and I get to see it when I visit.

Have you watched the DCI Banks series? I'm hooked! Found it on Amazon Prime.

give 'em enough rope....HA!!!
The shark pens look like lots of fun. when I went to school we had to use fountain pens. Ball points were forbidden. I was in 4th grade - couldn't figure out how they knew the difference! I used Peacock Blue ind - turquoise shade. I loved it! That really is inexpensive for fountain pens! Great buy.
Love the shot of the pink clouds. That really is pretty.
Weather here has been hot hot hot and muggy. Today we *finally* got rain and it tried to catch up for a month in an hour, which is to say we may have to cut the grass this week. I won't have to water anything in the morning, a nice break. Takes me about an hour to water everything in the garden that needs it (by hand). Nice, tho. Meditative.
I have a gf who watches Acorn. I don't get it. We pay for Hula but don't use it. I keep telling husband to cancel. It would be a wash if I then got Acorn.
Rest - hope your aches get better fast!

Hi Rita- I haven't been by for a bit but wanted to see what was up with you. :) Love those shark pens-how fun! And I also love those stickers- you can have a lot of good daily journaling with those-or your calendar-or whatever you chose. :) Hope you get to see the grandbabies soon but stay well. hugs-Erika

Dang it all! I forgot again to make a comment so I can respond to your comments! Blogger, would you please fix this! Grrr! :(

The wider parking area sounds great. We have to be more careful, don't we! I am so much more cautious now that I've fallen a few times the last couple years. I'm lucky I didn't break anything, but my one knee is still bothering me a lot.

I think Ian will get a kick out of seeing the pens. He's not really old enough for pens, but this might make him more interested in writing. ?? Who knows. ;)

Still hanging in there. ;)

I have some oil pastels but have never really known how to use them very well.
I'm glad you can cycle, at least. I hope you get back to normal asap. :)

I have SO many pens! Pens, inks, paper and all kinds of art & craft supplies. Been collecting for decades. ;)

Rita said...

Glow didn't appeal to me, but I have Mrs Maisel on my watchlist on Amazon. I've been deeply into detective and mysteries lately...except for West World--but that has some unanswered questions in it, too--LOL!

Rita said...

He's too little to have one of his own yet, but he certainly could later on. He's been mostly a trucks and bricks and such kind of boy so he's just learning how to properly hold a paintbrush or a crayon. Maybe this will be motivation? LOL!

Another matte girl! LOL! Over the years I occasionally watch remodeling or decorating shows or home buying shows for no good reason when I rent--hehe! Never have gotten much into cooking or baking shows. I'm more into art & craft shows. :)

A sewing/grandkid's room sounds great! I am accumulating more things for Ian as he gets older and can now come over for our Gramma Days. Yup--need more shelves. I have quite a few things saved for Liam as he gets older that Ian played with when he was little, so they'll have their own spaces. :)

Thanks, I'm glad to finally be posting regularly again. Hugs, Rita

Ian is still coughing a bit and has a runny nose but he doesn't want to miss another Gramma Day, he said. So he'll be here on Friday if all goes as planned and he's still feeling pretty good or well. :)

I'm sure we'll find something that will work and not cost too much. Not really a hurry or anything but I'd like it this year.

Hot here, too. I hope it cools off for both of us. :)

Rita said...

Been hot and sticky here--day after day after day. We'll have a couple weeks where we can open up and it will cool off and then before we know it it will be too cold to be opened up--LOL! So I appreciate any day I can open it up--even for a few hours. ;)

Sorry to hear about your eye!! Traveling and visiting knocks me for a loop anymore. Rest up! Hope your eye clears up asap!

Rita said...

LOL! So much stuff in there we had to raise the shelf up--ha! Yup! Time to look for some inexpensive shelving of some kind.

The only way I know what is going to be dropped on Netflix is to scroll down my streaming list. Off to the right will be a date listed that that selection will be removed. For a series they give a month's warning and for a movie they give a week. If your friend doesn't ever scroll down you'd never know. They just vanish. ;)

Rita said...

I have that on my Watchlist but haven't started it yet. I'll remember it now that you mention it so I'll start it sooner. Thanks! I know we both like detective/murder mysteries. ;)

Rita said...

Really?! I wish we had to use fountain pens in school. We used pencils in grade school till maybe 5th or 6th grade, I think. After that it was ballpoints and we couldn't use colored inks. Not that there was much to pick from in colors...mostly black, blue, and red. That's all you could find back then in stamp pads also. Boy! Has THAT ever changed!! *she says smiling*

Acorn is only $4.99 a month. I get Curiosity Stream for $2.99 (but I think there's tax on that one) if you like science and animal type documentaries. That's where Ian and I watch about dinosaurs. Not the best quality pictures, but if you want HD you can pay $4.99, I think it is.

The aches seem to refuse to let up. I'm patient, though. One gift from fibro--you either develop patience or you're miserable--LOL!

I'm using the icon stickers in my bullet journal which is a form of a planner. Just fun stuff. I have washing machines, vacuum cleaners, etc. Just for fun.

I think Ian will be back this Friday. He told me he hadn't wanted to miss Gramma Day last week. I'm glad he likes to come over. It never lasts--LOL! ;)

You've got to have something fun to write with. Those shark pens are great. I write with jingling Christmas pens. Anything to entertain myself. :)

Fun shark pens! A tiny bit cooler in KS this week but still mighty uncomfortable after about 10:00 a.m. Which reminded me here at 6:30 p.m. and cloudy I need to go out and water the pots. Assume yours are doing well. Take care

Dear Rita, thanks for the info on the stickers. I use them a lot and these that you ordered are truly inexpensive. So sorry you missed this week your "date" with Ian. Peace.

We had some very pink clouds at sunrise yesterday morning. Took some pics.

WOW...those Jin Hao pens were a steal! Ian will get a real kick out of the shark lids. The icon stamps look great!

Looks like Ian is amassing quite a stash of his own craft supplies. hehe

Sorry to hear your knee and hip are bothering you. I can empathise though as my hip issues continue. Good idea to rest and enjoy some Netflix.

I'm half way through a letter and you should have received one in the last week or so.

Have a lovely weekend!

Love and hugs xo
