Good morning!
We had snow Tuesday night that continued on into Wednesday. Even had those annoying phone alerts for a snow squall. Haven't usually had those go off.
The partridge covey stayed nearby and were here several times......along with a flock of small birds.
There wasn't a lot more snow, but there was wicked wind!
At times you could barely see. The snow was coming down horizontally.
Plastered against my patio door glass. The sun finally came out for a little while later in the day, but the wind barely died down.
I had an apartment inspection Friday morning and then later that afternoon Dagan brought me over to pick up my new glasses. Just a quick unprepared snap. They have quite a bit larger lenses...better for my trifocals--lol! Still wire rims, though. Have preferred wire rims ever since the 60s. Every time I had plastic frames, they made me feel like I was looking through a tunnel--ROFL! I actually had rose-tinted wire rim glasses that I had made from my dad's old wire rims he had worn in the navy. They hooked around your ears! No lie! For many years I wore those. Much preferred to my pale blue cat glasses I wore in high school--lol!
I don't know where the week went to be honest. Has just been a long, quiet, mellow week. Puttering about...doing laundry...cooking...letters...feeding the birds...kind of feeling like Allie does most of the time--lol!
Got caught up in a British documentary where five people lived for an entire year on a farm like they would have in the 1600s. Absolutely fascinates me when they do those kinds of living in the past experiments. Have you ever watched any of them?
Wasn't feeling all that active as my left hip has been in a touchy, cranky mood for a couple of weeks--lol! Such is life.
Anyways, I have some pics from Leah. On Saturday Ian, Liam and the neighbor boy, Nash, went to Home Depot.
They always love going there! Looks like Nash did, too. He's gone with them before, I believe.
That night they went, along with their cousins, to see the Holiday Lights parade.
They had a bag with them for candy and goodies that get tossed to the crowd.
Odd to see a rainbow in the winter, eh? This is looking out their living room window.
I sent my new bathroom rugs home with Leah. They fit!! I am soooo happy. If they had been rectangular, they would have overlapped. But they fit just as perfectly as I had hoped they would. :)
And the other two rugs that match the living room rug are just about uncurled now, so you can see them right-side-up!
Love how colorful they are.

Been picking out a new shower caddy hook, kitchen towel holder, and some other hooks. Leah ordered the new shower caddy and coffee shelves (on sale after Thanksgiving). I'm going to try a magnetic strip in the kitchen to hold all my sharp knives since I have less storage or counter space. Have any of you tried those? Do you like them? It seems like a good idea for small spaces...but also kind of weird to have sharp knives hanging out there like that. I'll find out, eh?
Well, this week Keanna comes tomorrow to clean. The boys' Christmas presents should be delivered so there will be wrapping to do. I am just enjoying having no plans at all really. Snuggling with Allie and watching the partridges and flock of small birds every day again. It warmed up into the 30s and low 40s over the weekend so a lot of the snow has melted. :( I really, really hope we get some more snow before Christmas for sure. Brown Christmases are so depressing to me. Or icy ones! Bleh! Please, please, please snow!
Are you ready for Christmas? Do you travel to see family? Does family come to see you? Or do you spend Christmas with your cat, like me? I always do see McFamily before or after Christmas, though. Usually after. My tradition is that I always watch It's a Wonderful Life (get teary-eyed every time) and A Christmas Story (get nostalgic every time) sometime around or over Christmas. Never have after, though, come to think of it. Always before or during. Do you have favorite Christmas movies you watch every year?
Christmas always fills my soul with such good stuff. May you be filled up, too...and overflow! Till next week. :)

We don’t celebrate Christmas at all so we are ready right now. In fact we were ready all year long!
We have not gotten snow yet this year, but it is bitterly cold here and WINDY, too.
I am NOT ready for Christmas. No cards made, no gifts purchased or created. Trying to get into the spirit, but with my arm in a sling, I'm having a bit of trouble feeling it. Even watching Die Hard, my favorite Christmas movie, didn't do much to improve my cheer and good will to all (grin).
PBS had a documentary about people who lived in the US in the late 1600s. Many in the original colony died (starvation, disease, etc), but none in the documentary.
LOVE those new bath rugs. Awesome. Have a good week, dear Rita and Allie.
My required Christmas movie is The Bishop's Wife. Every year I need to see it.
I'm glad you started feeding the birds again. It's nice to see you! I do like the glasses. Those boys are way too cute, seriously. We had the wind but not the snow. We don't have any snow. Bah! The past few years we spend Christmas alone, which is fine. We may see the son before or after. I used to watch those movies every year, before Christmas. Why did I stop?
I forgot to add....I have a magnetic strip for my knives attached to a cabinet adjacent to where my cutting board is. I love it. Knife points up!
That looks very festive at HD! My local hardware store has lots of decorations too; I try to avoid HD if I can. Wind is brutal in the winter, even here in our moderate climate. Laying low and relaxing is a good thing to do in winter; if other animals hibernate, why can't we? My house is perfect for hosting Xmas, fortunately or unfortunately, so my daughters and grandsons are coming to me. They both live in houses with one bathroom whereas I have three. :)
Hope my other comment went through. Many screen comments but I'm never sure. By the way, I wear frameless glasses and love them. They're expensive though.
My sister in law has a magnetic thing for knives and it works great. It is very icy here. I am not done with my cards yet, hopefully by the end of this week. I watch some of the British stuff Wartime Farm, Victorian Farm etc...on Tubi I think I enjoy them all:)
I love seeing the partridges and other birds, as I look out my front door I see, Cockatoos, Galadas, Rosella's and Pigeons.
Some weeks past in a flash and others seem to drag on
I have watched similar shows about people trying to live in past times like during the 1800's and early 1900's don't think I have seen one that was set so far back in time, I find such shows real interesting.
The Home Depot project is cute. Your rugs look good. I've watched some of the shows with people living as if they're in a different time period. It's been a long time since I've seen those. One had people in the U.S. living as if they were homesteaders on the prairie. Another had English people living in Victorian times and one that was really interesting had people in England recreating life in the early days of World War II. There was another that kind of portrayed the reality of Downton Abbey. A family played the very wealthy people, while various people were the servants. The people who were servants kept quitting because they had to get up so early and work so hard. In all of those shows, people become frustrated by the lack of modern conveniences. They always felt they couldn't get clean without the kind of soap and shampoo we have now.
Love,
Janie
It sure does look cold and windy, all right. I love to see the birds all huddled together, though, it seems like they know how to stay warm. I received your two cards and love them both, dear friend! Thank you many times over.
Hi Rita. I got your fun Christmas card today and have noted your new address for NEXT year's Christmas card mailing! I like your new glasses. They look good on you. Fun pictures of your grandchildren. I hope you have a good week. See you again soon!
It’s sounds like my kind of low-key week. 👍❤️
I love your new glasses. They look great and you're right about the larger lenses. And the new rugs are lovely. As for being ready? Are you serious?! Nope, not even close, though the house is finally as decorated as it's going to be. Happy week to you!
