October 12, 2025 Sunday

Greetings!
Wishes do come true!!  It was a boring week--lol!  I have gradually felt better and better.  The respiratory crud is about gone.  Sleeping better.  Basically recovered from the fall.  Allie got to watch the beginnings of the long unpacking!
Exciting news!  The little trays arrived...
...and they fit perfectly!!  This makes those paper shelves so very much more useful!  Can store all kinds of things in them, pull out the trays and bring them over to the table.  REALLY exciting!!  For me, anyways--lol!  I spent the last of my money this month to order some more as Amazon was almost out and you never know if items will be restocked.
Leah changed my shower curtain for me when I could still barely walk.  It's the previous one the boys had borrowed.  So nice to have a different shower curtain to look at.
By about Thursday I was doing baby steps for unpacking!  I'd have Dagan or Leah bring in a box or two to work on.
Packing paper being saved.  Dagan wants some of it for starting the fire pit thingie on the patio.  The rest will be recycled.
Oh, and Leah moved the paper shelves into the studio so I had the folding tables free again.
Dagan and I switched the litter pan.  So glad to have a sturdy one with high sides.  (Miss Allie was pooping over the sides of the cheapie short one.)
As I was emptying kitchen and pantry boxes I realized this is going to be a difficult challenge to figure out where everything is going to end up and still be organized.
So, I asked Leah to get down the empty bins we had stashed up on the dresser...
...because there is a dilemma.  Trying to fit a kitchen into a kitchenette...and then there's my entire pantry to go someplace.
Saving boxes to give away to somebody who can use them for moving.
Allie is glad when I take my many breaks--lol!
They could fit two to four boxes on the folding tables depending on the sizes and I would plug away at the unpacking.
Allie often was right under the folding tables...kind of on alert.
Haven't even gone through half the kitchen/pantry boxes (first two rows on the left side) but am making progress!!  Once the boxes are out, I can move in the bins that will be storing things for the pantry and kitchen--lol!
Yes, it is going to be like one of those sliding number puzzles.  Move this and then that...a lot of shifting from place to place to place.  I not only have a much smaller kitchen...I have these shelves in the back of the laundry/maintenance room.  Top two currently occupied with stuff of Dagan and Leah's.
Dagan will move the wires and their stuff to the top shelf, I believe, so I will have three shelves next to the washer and dryer.  That will be room for laundry stuff and other storage.
And then there is the storage room under the entryway...which is full of my studio boxes and some of their stuff.  (You can see the innocent looking upside-down rollie chair in the center front--lol!)  There is a set of shelves that covers the entire wall on the right hand side that was taken down and put in the garage so we had room to put boxes when I moved.  We will share those shelves.
This is why I need bins to put things in that will eventually be in the storage room or on shelves in the laundry/maintenance room.  A juggling act.  But it has begun.  It has begun!!!

I'm already finding a few things that will likely have to be donated.  Started a box with things I don't HAVE to keep.  Going to be a process, that's for sure.  But it feels so good to be started!

Allie likes the activity...but not too much of it--lol!  Interrupts her many naps.  ;)
Good thing I am feeling more human.  I have my ultrasound on Friday.  Next Tuesday I see the OBGYN.  Can't even imagine getting bad news, honestly.  Have had the whole thing on the back burner.

My smart watch arrived but they've been so busy I am not sure when Leah has time to figure it out and then teach me.  Soon, though.  They had an annual family/friend Octoberfest day yesterday where they made German foods for a big meal.  [We couldn't find the crock pot!  Looked everywhere.  Could be packed?]  Today is some kind of origami event for the whole family.  They are always so busy doing interesting things.

Me...I will continue to unpack and sort and ponder where things will end up.  I found "Narrow Escapes" on Tubi and am watching season one.  It's about narrowboaters in the UK and I finally found a way to watch it.  I have followed a few narrowboaters for years.  (Eclectic tastes--lol!)  I hadn't slept much at all for so long that I've been catching up on sleep.  A nap could happen at any time, too--lol!  Anyways, I am soooo happy to be FINALLY feeling better and better...and be FINALLY unpacking!!  I began to wonder if it would ever happen--lol!  Have a great week!  Till next time... :) :)

Dear Rita, I am very happy you have recovered from the fall. Allie is in fine form. Sometimes unpacking can be more stressful than packing. Take it slowly. Sending you much love ❤️ and warm hugs.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. The unpacking is a slow process. You're doing good at whittling it down little by little

Great news on a food week especially that you were (finally) feeling better, Rita, and back to slowly unpacking and getting organized. Having a smaller space can be challenging, but you are ingenuous enough to figure workable solutions. 😀 looking forward to reading about the new smart watch once it is set up for you.

So you did have a better week, good. You're living in an unpacking puzzle. Live origami!

Such good news, Rita. I am so glad you are that much better, and have started actually moving in. You have plenty to keep you busy for the foreseeable future, it seems.

On your way! Allie looks interested, maybe hoping a treat will be in one of the boxes. Moving and then unpacking is a way of eliminating what we hang onto but eventually wonder why. Have a good time getting things organized.

Oh those trays do fit perfectly. What a great find. I know you will keep everything organized and put away in your own time. There really isn't any hurry and just do it as you can. Nice that you are giving the boxes to someone who can use them. I love it when I discover a good series on TV. Naps are a good thing. Have a great week.

New here. I smiled all the way through your update — those little trays sound like the perfect solution, and I can just imagine how satisfying it must feel to start unpacking at last.
It’s lovely how you find small joys, even in the middle of all the sorting and “shifting from place to place.”
Give Allie a little pat from me — she seems to have the right idea about taking breaks. 😄
Wishing you a calm, cozy week ahead and smooth unpacking!

That is good news Rita, so glad you are feeling much better from fall and respiratory health. Allie looks happy too, I’m sure she is real happy with her new litter pan. What a great idea those red trays are! Your shower curtain looks so nice and cheerful. Baby steps is a real good thing and good to read you are taking many breaks. I remember how challenging it is to find places for everything, but it all looks like it’s coming together. Looks like a busy time but will be thinking of you and sending good vibes your way on those appointments. You’re getting there. Baby steps, you don’t want to do too much too. No relapses needed and apologies for being a Jiminy Cricket :) Sending lots of hugs your way.

So glad you are better from the fall and you are feeling better overall, too. Nice to see you are finally able to begin the unpacking. Allie looks at ease, too. What an uplifting post.

HI Rita, I really am a bad blogger aren't I? Having just read the posts I missed I'm pleased to see that you are getting a lot better AND unpacking and organising your new home!
I tripped over a kerb the other day, grazed knees and palms, but so embarrassing! Was trying to keep up with hubby going round some men working on the pavement - they were on their feet and picking me up before hubby had time to come back to me!!!
We have been so busy this week - mostly nice stuff so having a day of catching up today!
Have you seen the Canal Boat Diaries with Robbie Cummings?
Narrow Escapes is new to me so I'll be looking for that! We have a meal coming up on a narrow boat soon - a gift from one of my sons!!!
Take care not to overdo things, Hugs, Chrisx

I'm so relieved that you are finally feeling better from the crud and then the fall. Yes, unpacking and making those "where to put it" decisions is always hard, even when you already have an idea -- which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't! But you've got this. I love Allie's cute little face -- she's one alert cat, definitely paying attention. It's looking good!

Good to read you are recovering from your fall, those red trays do look good, unpacking takes time but at least the place will start to look like how you would like it to look and feel like home
