Karma's favorite place to snooze now is on or near her wooden pillow--hehe!
I wonder how long this will last? :)

Yesterday I washed clothes and then started in on emptying the TV stand in the bedroom. This packed bag is full of VHS movies that Dagan and Leah gave me a couple years ago...
...and these are a bag of taped painting shows (oils, acrylics, and watercolors) and a bag of taped craft shows. I figured I'd see if somebody on freecycle wanted them. But first I want to go thru them again and watch whatever I decide I'd like to see just one more time. ;)
Here's the empty, dusty inside of the TV stand. I forgot to get a before picture but, shall we say, it was packed!
Here's some more VHS tapes and the DVDs that were inside that I had piled on the art table.
This is the drawer I have in the living room to keep tapes and DVDs...
...that I temporarily reorganized. There are a few VHS tapes I know I am keeping out of this batch. I have some art tapes, old home movies that were transferred to tape by my brother, class reunion tape, and such. But a lot of them are just ones I am sure I want to look at again, but am not sure I want to keep or get rid of.
I have more DVDs that won't fit right now and eventually I'd like to be able to have all the DVDs and VHS tapes in this drawer by the TV. It just all feels chaotic right now. I'll slowly sort thru it all--but I wanted to empty out the TV stand. I plan to save the extra VCR from the bedroom because pretty soon you aren't even going to be able to buy them, I suppose, and I am still going to still have a few things on tape. :) But if Dagan and Leah can disconnect everything for me tomorrow, I can put the TV and stand up on freecycle. In fact, I haven't done it myself for so long that I'm going to have to ask Leah to show me how to get started. (She put the last stuff up for me--she's even one of the freecycle site monitors.)

Let's see--oh! I ordered Lovejoy on Netflix! Ian McShane is sooo young! I watched the first DVD and enjoyed the program, so I'll sign up for the rest of them. I had never heard of this British series and it went on for years! So now I have another series to rent off and on and make my way thru the years of episodes--along with Northern Exposure and Upstairs, Downstairs right now. :)

Caroline comes tomorrow and Dagan & Leah come after work. I suppose I should try the DVD player again today and see if I can get it to work--hehe! I am always so happy to see them! :):)

Karma is loving that block pillow. Whodathunkit?
I had two VCRs go on me a couple of weeks ago...one right after the other. I haven't had any luck finding a new one to buy anywhere. I managed to find a refurbished VCR (exactly like the one we had in the living room) from a place thru Amazon.com. It arrived last Thursday but I haven't had a chance to hook it up yet. (i need extra hands to hold wires so they don't drop behind the entertainment center and those hands are busy with boy scout stuff when i need them)
We still have the old analog TVs and new DVD/VCRs aren't made so you can hook directly to the old TVs anymore. They all have the new cables. We bought an RF modulator so we could hook up a new DVD/VCR to the bedroom TV from the cable box, but I can't get the TV channels to come up in the VCR. I thought I was good at figuring out electronic gadgets, but this new stuff is driving me nuts. It also doesn't help that the places I need to get to are places you can't get to...tight spaces and walls interfer. :\
Hope you're having a nice day.
I just got rid of my VCR - I only had about 4 tapes anyway.
I can't get over how much Karma likes her pillow!! :)

We are actually gonna be getting some cooler weather and I cant wait, you sure have been busy I try to get into organizing moods like that from time to time because it just makes the house feel that much more cleaner to me lol I know what you mean about the vhs going away we had some home movies on some and hubby rigged up a dvd recorder to the vhs player and recorded our vhs onto dvds for me so that was cool, I would never know how to do it but he is smart like that lol I hope you have a good day!
AliceKay--I've gone thru so many VCRs! And they are hard to find to buy anymore. Gone the way of the 8-track and beta--hehe! I hope the one you bought works. And I know what you mean about all those wires and needing two pairs of hands. That's why both Dagan and Leah had to be here to work on this computerTVsystem. I, also, have no clue what wire or cord goes where and am pretty useless--hehe!
Iggy--The VHS tapes take up a lot more room than DVDs, too. I can see why people preferred them. And I think the DVDs might last longer. I was always buying new tapes for recording. Now I record directly to a computer! Whodathunkit! ;)
Lynn--I suppose eventually I'll have to see if I can get the old home movies, etc, transferred. I only have a few things like that that I'd hate to lose access to. I'd have no clue how to do those things, either. Good thing your hubby does. ;)
Yes, it's getting harder and harder to get hold of VCRs, and pretty soon you wont be able to get hold of them.
Good luck with sorting things out.
Tori--I know! And probably pretty soon you wont be able to find CDs or DVDs, either! They buy from and watch directly off the Internet now. Books, too! Still blows my mind that people can be carrying around 100 books on a Kindle. Times they are a changing, eh? As they always do. ;)
You've been a busy girl, Rita...it feels so good to weed out and purge the stuff you no longer use, doesn't it?
All our family movies are on VHS tapes so, until I get a DVD recorder, they are keepers. I realise VCR players are being phased out so I hope ours stays in tact until I manage to record the family movies onto DVD.
Serena--Yes! Feels good! I've been kind of waiting on the VHS tapes for give-away until my sleep has fallen back into a pattern at least. Haven't even ordered groceries this month yet. Don't want to "have" to be up at a certain time. Want to be able to just sleep whenever I possibly can, you know? Days of getting little or no sleep and you turn into a zombie--hehe!
That's what I'll need to do eventually, too--record the VHS tapes onto DVDs. One day. There are some things you just have to keep! Family movies, class reunion, etc. I just keep praying the old VCRs will keep working. Now I have a back up old one from the bedroom. I didn't give that away. ;)
