Friday-10am

Well, since we last spoke there have been some serene cloud days...

...Karma has been on swallow patrol...
...and I quit The Plan on Wednesday.
****
Yup.  Simply could not do that to my body any longer.  I could take the jaw pain, the feeling like I had the flu all the time, drinking water in bursts all day long, her food plan not working for me (could have been in the 10%), and even the eating things I didn't like...but the diarrhea--OMG!  I do not think this diet is meant for anyone who already has, shall we say, "bowel issues" in the first place.
****
Warning: TMI for some folks.
Obviously, having IBS, I have dealt with diarrhea for many years.  I do know what it's like to sometimes have less than 60 seconds warning.  But I have never had to deal with no warning at all!  I was afraid to cough, fart, bend over, or even laugh for heaven's sake!  That is why I was forced to quit.  Couldn't take it anymore.  Was making me much worse than I ever was in the first place.
****
I am now in recovery from The Plan.
  ****
After all the time, effort, money...and hope I put into this...
****
Disappointing...to say the very least.
****
I missed this whole week with Leah, too.  Glad her dear friend, Amber, drove up to visit from southern Minnesota, though.  (Leah's birthday was Wednesday.)  Hopefully I will be able to visit this next week after Memorial Day.  I'm not sure how long it is going to take me to trust leaving the bathroom, let alone the apartment.
****
I guess I will stick to my own regular diet.  Vegetarian--little or no processed foods--few sweets--little dairy.  Oh and BTW--I have not gained or lost one iota since I quit the diet on Wednesday despite not drinking all that water and eating wheat bread and pasta?  Kind of funny.  :)
****
Anyways, just wanted to pop in and let you know what's going on up here.  I tried.  I gave it my best shot.  I guess I will just be the grandma I was meant to be, eh?  Even as an achy, partially mobile grandma...I can smile, tell stories, observe accomplishments, listen, give hugs, do art & crafts...and love goes way beyond playing blocks on the floor, right?  ;)
****
R&R up here.
Just waiting for life to get back to normal.  :)
****
Thanks for all the comments and emails and well wishes.
I'm sure I'll feel better soon.

Oh, and we've had 70s up here the past couple days.  Gorgeous!  Supposed to stay like this all week--with occasional rain--and even supposed to reach the 80s.  (Could be too hot for me!)  Good recovery, read-on-the-porch weather.  Gratitude time!  Nothing like having things get tremendously worse for you to fully appreciate your own personal brand of crummy--LOL!  :) :)

  2. Hi again, Rita! Laughter cessation is not an option. Therefore the diet had to go (before you needed to go for the umpteenth time). I could gaze at those cloud shapes all day imagining that they are faces, animals and other familiar shapes. Hello to Karma the Kitty! Have a great weekend and stay well, dear Rita!

P.S. - My blog is a word verification free zone! :)

  3. Sorry it didn't work out. I wish you all the best and I hope you'll feel better soon. You had some great clouds rolling in though. And Karma is adorable, waiting and on the prowl! :D

  4. I hope this means that you will begin to trust your own intuition about what's best for you. I have not been a fan of "diets" for a long time now. Perhaps it was too much change, too soon, but I'm hoping you'll be fine in a short while. Well, you know what I mean by "fine." :-)

    Love,

  6. I'm sorry The Plan didn't work for you. Hopefully you can find another way to figure out what might be causing all your problems.

  7. Hope you get feeling better soon. Sounds like your regular diet is pretty healthy anyway. I am trying to be better about eating healthy and am chomping on an apple as I make this comment! Have a good weekend. Regards to Karma!

  8. So sorry it didn't work out! You were brave to try it and you can pat yourself on the back for that. Here's hoping you are feeling more up to it real soon and you can get back to routines and family fun.

  9. I'm sorry the plan didn't work out. But, hey, McBaby will love you no matter what; getting down on the floor to play with blocks is fun, but there are plenty of fun things you can do with McBaby from your chair. Arts and crafts or story time with Grandma will be very popular, I'm sure!

  10. It may work for some but The Plan was obviously not for you, Rita. I'm glad you chose not to torture yourself any longer. As I said in my previous comment, your Grandchild will adore you for all the things you mentioned including the love you will shower upon them.

I hope your body recovers quickly from the shock of it all. Rest up, my dear friend.

    Love and hugs ~ xo

  11. Oh you poor thing!! Rest up and go back to just good ole common sense eating. You know your body and what it needs. Gentle hugs!

  12. Well done for sticking with the plan and I am sorry it didn't work out.I sometimes feel a bit suspicious of these diet books, it's so complicated how our bodies work. It sounds like it made you really suffer, and so I am glad you are off it, Rita.

  13. Dear Rita, after all your cooking and planning and waiting to start until you had "all your ducks in a line," this must be disappointing for you. But anything that makes you that sick surely isn't good for your body.

I still may try it in August, but I'm not sure of that now that you've had these troubles. I really don't have much trouble with bowels or stomach, but who knows . . . maybe the Plan will change that! And I'll have the same troubles you've had. I'll let you know when the time comes.

Take care and be good to yourself. I'm so glad you are listening to your body. And it's been pretty persistent in the last couple of weeks, telling you what is not good for it. Peace.

  14. Oh man. We both belong to the "Never Trust a Fart" club. That's so funny that it affected you this way. I didn't do exactly the same plan, but when I "ate clean" for a week, I had the worst diarrhea too! I get the "no warning" thing, too. Gotta go NOW...oops, too late. :) I hope your system is getting back to normal. It can be so miserable!!

  15. I'm really sorry it didn't work out for you but I think something that radical is just too invasive for most any body.. and far more so for an ailing body. I hope you're feeling much better before too long.

  18. Hugs for you and a belated Happy Birthday for Leah!

I'm nearly as disappointed as you are that the plan didn't work. I hope you can retain the optimism that you had and keep on looking for something that does work!

  19. I am a cloud fan and have plenty of their images in my Flickr account. I must go see what this Plan is!

  20. I'm sorry the plan didn't work for you as you had hoped. I can just imagine how disappointing that would be for you.

I hope you're feeling better. You'll have a new grandson to hold very soon, and I think some of those aches and pains will go right out the window for awhile. Babies have a way of doing that. :) *hugs*

Happy Belated birthday wishes to Leah.

  21. Sorry to hear that the food plan didn't work for you. That would be frustrating. Hopefully you are starting to feel better now.

Don't underestimate all those wonderful qualities you mentioned. You will be a great grandma! Your grandson will be very lucky to have you in his life! :)
