Good Afternoon!
Yesterday it was almost 70 degrees and today it's 44--LOL! Spring in the North Country.

The birds were happily bathing in the water dish yesterday.
The two mourning doves seem to love a good bath. Even just sat in the water for a while.
This big box came late on Friday but I waited to open it till McFamily arrived yesterday.
My mom had called and asked me if I wanted her serger sewing machine. Whoohoo!! She sent it all the way up from Florida.

Hope you can see it there with all the piles on the black table in the studio.
She didn't have the instruction booklet and I have no experience with sergers (also called overlock machines) so will be doing searches online for information. Be so cool if I can figure out how to use this!! Leah is excited, too. They can enclose and cut off the excess fabric in a seam all at the same time--like most clothes are done at factories. Will be an interesting challenge, eh?

Ian came with his new "First Bike" that has no pedals. Teaching him balance when he sits on it. He does really well.
We took a trip down the walking path to the big cottonwood tree to give it a hug. (I love the lime green helmet!) Ian gave the tree a hug and told me the tree said "thank you". Gramma had to turn off the video so she could give the tree a hug, too. Ian decided that we also needed to give the tree a kiss. So we did. Perfect for Earth Day, eh?
Ian was very interested in seeing his shadow. He got to bring home a piece of the bark that had fallen off the tree and a bit of small branch. Tokens of tree hugging.

Yay on gettting the overlocker (that's what we call them in Oz). If you note the Brand and Model, you should be able to google to find the instruction booklet and even download it. I've done that a few times when instruction booklets have gone missing. I LOVED my overlocker when I sewed regurlarly. So handy and neat. I had a five spool overlocker so it could actually do a separate seam beside the overlocked edge. You will love it once you get the hang of it.
Mikayla and Maddy had a bike like that. Ian is too cute! :)

I have heard that sergers are a bugger to thread! I hope you can find a manual online. Ian looks so grown up on that bike:)
How incredible that you got a new (to you) serger. You could make your own sweatshirts, too (grin). Seriously, there are lots of ways to find the information. I'm sure there are videos out there, and lots of sewing blogs share information like that. PBS has afternoon sewing one day a week and one of the programs often discusses sergers.
Ian is a such a cutie. So good to see him out and about like that. Hope YOU had a great Earth Day.
I'm glad you had a nice Earth Day. It was pouring rain here and rather miserable. Seems like the weather is crazy everywhere. It was near 80 last week - and tonight it's back in the 30's. I had to put an extra blanket on the bed.

We had a serger before we got rid of everything. They are great, but take a little practice. The hardest thing is to thread it. When you want to change threads, tie the new thread onto the the of the old and carefully pull through as far as you can. If it comes unthreaded, maybe you can find threading directions online for the brand.
BTW, your headline still says you are living with Karma. Did you get another cat or are you going cat-free for a while?
Once you get that machine figured out you'll love it!!! Mine got lost in a move and I have missed it dearly but I don't sew enough anymore to warrant the cost of a new one...but then if I had one I might sew more...hummmm :)

We're expecting a high today of 74 F after several days of cooler weather. I love watching the birds splash around. So sweet :)

Yup, I know about those weather changes. Its never dull, is it? I bought a serger on sale and it took me quite awhile to figure out how to use it. And now, since its been awhile, I can't remember what to do. Hope you have a lot better luck than me. :) Happy new week. Hugs-Erika

Dear Rita, I could hardly believe how big Ian is now. That, more than anything, has made me realize just how long I've been gone from blogging. I so love his hugging and kissing the tree. Oneness. Peace.
I've never seen those pedal-less bikes before. Back when our contemporaries were having babies we'd give the ones we liked tricycles; the others got drum sets!!
Ian, you keep up your bike-riding, tree hugging ways.

How nice of your mom to send you a serger! So many things now that you can sew and create. Good job, Ian, on bike riding! I didn't know they made bikes without pedals. That must help considerably with balance and getting comfortable on a bike.
Such a great video! I can't believe Ian is old enough to ride a bike. Wow, kids grow up so fast. Looked like a nice day for a walk.
