Wednesday-10:15am

We've had so many dark days, rain, and thunderstorms, but it stayed dry on Tuesday.  Dagan came over here after work and we had dinner.  Leah had to work late.  She picked Dagan up here and they went to check out appliances for the new house.  Then they came back here and Leah ate.
I warned them to wear their shoes on the porch because as soon as you open the screen door--there are dead moth bodies everywhere.
Their dry little bodies have been flying about on windy days like tiny, crumbly, dead leaves.
Karma doesn't like to even step on them, so they ruined her lolling about on those 90 to almost 100 degree days.  She doesn't even ask to go out anymore.  So she's going to be thrilled when they are all vacuumed up and the screen door is in its proper summer place--propped wide open so she can come and go as she pleases.  ;)
****
Dagan and Leah got out there close to dusk.  First they had to pull the bottom three strips away and the side edges up a bit.
Got some bulldog clips to hold up the folded bottom edge while they worked.
They applied the first layer all across the bottom edge there...
...then applied the other half of the velcro and pressed them together.
Finally they removed that backing in sections, pressed the screen to the sticky back, and reattached those three strips.  Done!!
****
Karma watched near the porch door.
Now today I am praying the rain holds off until after Caroline comes this afternoon (2pm) so she can vacuum out there.  If it starts to cloud up (thunderstorms expected again today, but it is gorgeous right now) I will try to get some of bodies up myself.  I need to take the cover off my chair and search high and low in every corner before I prop the door open for the summer.  Dagan caught one moth last night and let it go while the screen was folded up, so there's probably a live one or two hiding out there yet.  Karma and I will both be sooooo glad to have our porch back!  ;)
****
Here's a shot this sunny morning.  That black strip (right at the bottom of the railing above the old three spaced apart strips) is the new, bug prevention strip.  TaDa!!
We just left the three old strips there for extra snow support in the winter.
I've had a bunch of people asking about the new Devil's Claw for pain.  Well, the trouble with buying online is that you can't read the bottle.  The dosage they recommend is two pills twice a day--which would get spendy for me, but would be worth it if it works.  Cheap me, I wanted to see if maybe I could take less and started out taking one a day.  Nothing.  So now I am taking two a day this week--one in the morning and one in the evening.  If I still don't notice anything I will bump up to the full dose next week.  I'll let you know if I can tell any difference.
****
I may still ache all over like when you have the flu...and it may keep me from doing art...
...but I refuse to let it ruin my day.  :)
****
Don't let anything ruin yours!

I'm so grateful Karma was there to supervise the procedure. Without her, I doubt if anything would be accomplished.

Love,

I hope the pills work for you. I would be scared to take any med I got off the internet. Please be careful!

Glad you have the velcro up now; hopefully now you and Karma can enjoy some porch time. :)

I hope you feel better soon, Rita.

Please send some sunshine over here as we are getting waterlogged!
Whoever came up with the name "Flaming June" should be hung! It has done nothing but rain, so my cats just sit on the windowsill looking sad. ;)
As long as it stays dry for our Carnival Week at the beginning of July...{sigh, I hate weather.}

That is so darling how Karma waited :0)

Honey bees keep getting into our house. I hope I can find how they're getting in. I don't have the heart to kill them and I keep trapping them in cups and then letting them out. I scream almost every time though LOL! One of these times I'll quit screaming when I set them free and they come back at me. *still giggling*

Weather has been weird here also ~ not much of a Spring have had layers on for the most part ~ Glad you got the moth situation straightened out so you and Karma can enjoy the porch ~ you are so lucky to have your children around to help with work ~ Great to 'hear from you' and do enjoy ~ Wondering what you will be creating on the porch this summer? ~ thanks, ^_^ (A Creative Harbor)

Beautiful photo of the sky. Looks like your window solution is perfect too. We are currently having mild weather here by the Bay but it is predicted to be hot this weekend.

Looking good, Rita! I'm thinking that by the time I'm posting this comment that you and Karma will have your porch back. It's looking VERY promising. :-)

glad that the bug prevention is in full swing... we had a rogue mozzie the other day and we all stood there stunned that it was braving the cold... the crazy wet winter is messing with everything... laughed out loud at that loose woman comment too... giggled the whole time I was washing floors... now that is not something I am used to... thanks for making the domestic chores more bearable...xx

I love how Karma supervised it all!

Hope the screens help. :)

Your screened in porch is looking good. Hopefully, those nasty moths won't be able to make inside and invade your porch again. Great job Dagan and Leah.

I was hoping the Devils Claw would help you. The trouble with supplements sometimes is the dosage and the number required to get any benefit from them. I take special Omega 3 geltabs prescribed by my eye doctor that are supposed to help my cornea and my eyes. I have to take 4 geltabs a day, but I'm not seeing any improvement in my eyesight. Gotta make an appointment for another eye exam soon.

I hope your day turned out to be a good one. Also hope all of those moth corpses are all cleaned up now. :)

I like the new screen!! Very nicely done!! I think I would be with you and wear shoes when venturing out; stepping on dried up moths wouldn't excite me either :)

That will be nice for you and Karma to enjoy the porch again. There's nothing like sitting outside with the breeze and NO bugs (or moths)! The photos of the clouds are beautiful.

It was good to read you got your book for Tracie's class. I sure hope you like it. I've been looking for those same doilies. I bought some last year and now I can't find them. They are NOT where I thought I put them.

It's nice that you have help from people. That screen looks well taken care of now. I suspect the bugs will have to go elsewhere to nest and sleep during the day. I'm sure Karma will love it once the bugs are all gone. It must be a real pain (both literal and figurative).

Have a great rest of the week.

Dear Rita, I so like that quote from Confucius. Thank you for sharing it. I accidentally deleted the URL for that story on your other blog. Would you please provide it again?

And I'm so glad to learn about this velcro. It's possible that when I move back to Minnesota--probably to the Roseville area--I'll be living in a condo with a balcony like yours. I'd love to be able to do what you do so that the three cats could go out there.

So thanks for sharing how all this is done.

Peace.

I'm glad Dagan and Leah have helped abate your moth dilemma. When we get the occasional moth in the house, I always catch and release it back outside. Of course, your situation was different because they could freely get inside your porch area. I'm sure Karma will be delighted to see all the moths cleaned away with the vacuum.

I hope the Devil's Claw helps with the pain. That's the down side of the natural remedies...they can be quite costly. :(

I hope you had a lovely day and I do hope your pain eases soon, dear friend. xo
