Karma taking a time out from the packaging paper--hehe!
I notice the holes in the sheet are getting larger. Hummm...I hope she wasn't the reason I got holes in my sheet in the first place? They are on either end of the fitted sheet right on the side where she usually slept by me? She does use those sharp teeth of hers as substitutes for her missing claws--hehe! But I think the holes are getting larger now because of all her pawing at them. She has developed dexterous toes, too. Can slide a cat treat out of a standing jar right around the glass lip. In life you have to adapt, right? Miss Karma has skillfully adapted. :)
Besides reading on the porch yesterday, I watched a couple of movies. Taken was violent, but riveting!
While vacationing with a friend in Paris, an American girl (Maggie Grace) is kidnapped by a gang of human traffickers intent on selling her into forced prostitution. Working against the clock, her ex-spy father (Liam Neeson) must pull out all the stops to save her. But with his best years possibly behind him, the job may be more than he can handle. Famke Janssen also stars in this relentless action-thriller from director Pierre Morel.
Passengers had a huge twist that I don't want to say anything about in case you want to see it.
When therapist Claire Summers (Anne Hathaway) starts working with the surviving passengers of a plane crash, she discovers that their individual accounts of the tragedy differ significantly from the airline's official version. As Claire digs deeper for the truth, beyond the airline's sanitized statements, the survivors suddenly begin to vanish, leaving her swimming in a dark abyss of intrigue and conspiracy.
They were both really good--in very different ways. Liam's movie is edge-of-your-seat action packed with fighting (and killing) bad guys--trying to get his daughter back. Anne's movie is quieter and more like slowly trying to put odd-shaped puzzle pieces together.
Today is another day in the 70s, but cloudy. Rain is supposed to come creeping up on us again tonight. Maybe thunderstorms. We sure seem to be getting a lot of precipitation up here. If this is any indication of things to come, we may get a heck of a lot of snow this coming winter!
These last several days I almost feel like I've been on vacation! When I spend time on the porch I can close my eyes and it almost feels to me like I am away at a cabin in Northern Minnesota. One with a screen porch, of course. I almost expect to hear the squeaking and light slamming bounce of wooden screen doors--the sounds of children splashing in the lake and of motorboats roaring by with water skiers--the aroma of grills, suntan lotion, bug spray, and lake-hair--or the call of the loons at dusk as the waves lap against the dock. And I am relaxing in my porch chair devouring light mysteries like potato chips! :):)

i've written the movies down to remind myself to get them. taken looked really good from the trailers. i haven't heard of passengers so i hope it will be available here.

i can identify with your 'vacation'. in our warmer months i sometimes sit under the pergola, listening to the breezes through the trees and it's just like listening to the sea breezes. i will close my eyes and be instantly carried away to the beach. such a beautiful feeling.

Karma has made a kitty hammock. :)

I don't usually watch movies as I perfer to take "road trips" in the manner you describe and usually end up blissfully snoring away (softly I hope).

Hi Serena!
Ahhh! Those mental vacations are great, aren't they? I'll be interested to see what you think of the movies. :)

Hi Intense!
CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is another one of the several boring things I am plagued with--so I try not to get comfortable enough to doze off--or I'd be snoring half my day away! ROFL! I know what you mean, tho. But I dearly LOVE movies! And books!! :):)
