Friday-7am

End of the year and knowing my "great room" (LOL!) is going to soon be rearranged made me want to show you pictures all around. This is what my jam-packed little sanctuary looks like at the end of 2011. :)
****
The dehydrator gift from Terah, my new printer, and the big fun purchase of 2011...the new pen and ink cabinet! ;)
My workhorse desk area.
Looking into the room...the two chairs will be gone. Going to look so different to me. And the two chair arrangement is all Karma has ever known. Hope my reader's table will work for my laptop in the new-to-me loveseat. So exciting! My back can hardly wait! ;)
My trusty craft table by the windows. Yes, it's my former dining room table. You can do what you want when you live alone and your cat doesn't care. ;)
Door to the little porch where Karma waits for snow.
The new bookcase this year next to the TV. Yes, that's a bedroom triple dresser the TV is on. You use what you have where you need it, right? LOL! Even a shot of Karma's favorite silly "toy" this year...the plastic shower curtain liner "rope" strung along the floor. Silly girl!
And the art table...where I played with my very first art journal in November...and with Serena's gorgeous daisy painting that I won hanging over the table for inspiration! Especially cheery during the long winter months.
I guess I'd better get working on my goal list for 2012! Time's a wastin'!!
****
Yesterday I worked on Thank You cards and more Christmas letters owed. Nine envelopes will be off in the mail today. I still have three more letters I'm working on, but I'd best stop and work on the goal list first today. Do you believe it is almost New Year's Eve! :)
****
Oh! Oh! Oh!
I forgot to tell you that when Dagan went off to work and left me with that Survivors show on their big TV...well, I couldn't figure out how to turn up the volume or put it on pause...nothing I tried worked with the remote control or mouse or keyboard that were on the coffee table.
****
When Dagan came home I explained my dilemma. He laughed and--from the kitchen, mind you--says loudly "XBox. Pause." Well, I tell you! I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of a science fiction movie! The TV paused!!
****
He says softly, tell it--"XBox. Play." And I did! Whoohoo! What a techie world they live in, eh? But...the XBox does not choose to listen every time, I assure you--LOL! It is moody, as all electronics tend to be. But that really blew me away!! I didn't even know you could watch Netflix movies through an XBox in the first place, let alone that it had voice control! ;)
****
Oh darn! I forgot to think of seven things to tell you about me for the blog award. Maybe that should be one. If I don't write things down anymore I forget them--LOL! I'll work on that list, too. I'd better go write that down....
TTYL :):)

I've found another person who uses furniture in creative ways! Yes, when you live alone you can do whatever you wish. And you're so organized.

R: the tv/XBox - It's a not so brave new world for me. It's all science fiction.

Thanks for a look-see at your world and the great quote.

Wow! That is truly amazing, voice controlled XBox. And your home is so nice looking. I see you are also a Mac lover, like me. My laptop looks exactly like yours. :-)

And what a nice home you have. Who cares whether your work space was once a dining room table? It is useful and sturdy!

Wow... if I had that much stuff, with my organization skills, everything would be a huge pile on the middle of the floor!

You've got everything in its place! I think the loveseat will fit in there nicely... I'm sure Karma's bed will fit on "her side".

:) XBOX, make my goal's list!

:) XBOX, write a new blog entry for me!

Hmm... I guess I actually have to get an XBOX first......

Love that you use things in ways they weren't "planned" (the dresser, the dining room table, etc). Last year I turned the dining room (which we used only on major holidays) into a library/office. We have an eat in kitchen with our everyday dining table.

Such awesome things! :0) Your home looks wonderful.

I can tell it's going to be an amazing year.

You really do have a lot of stuff. You do have it well organized though.

My sis in WV has a wireless hookup and gets Net Flix through it. That is my goal for my next computer and TV, everything wireless.

Hugs,
Beth

Teresa--Ha! Another creative decorator! LOL! The smaller the space the happier I am that I have these OCD tendencies--ROFL!! ;)
It WAS like living in a Star Trek episode!! Kind of spooky freaky at first.
Be warm and happy!! :)

Djan--When I won the $2,000 in that poetry contest (two years ago the 28th, as a matter of fact) my splurge was to buy my McLap! I have always heard how they last so long and that was my one chance to buy a good laptop, right? So I became an Apple person. Took me forever to switch over and I still don't know half what this thing does, but I love the finger scrolling and the other bells and whistles. I hope and pray it lasts me at least ten years or more! I don't want to go back to MS now. ;) Mines a MacBook Pro I got almost two years ago. I'd be lost without it now. :)
Oh, I utilize every nook and cranny around here--LOL! It's nice having my place the way I want it and nobody to complain about anything these last 19 years--LOL! Some of us are maybe just meant to live alone, I think. Or I picked the wrong people--ROFL! ;)

Iggy--See why I need to be organized? LOL! This small cluttered space would drive a lot of people bonkers. But to me it is cozy and I am surrounded by things I love and enjoy and use. To each his own, I guess.
I know! I think her cat bed will work nicely on her side of the loveseat. And if she will lie in there I won't get as much cat hair all over the brown loveseat. Who knew moving her cat bed up on her chair on a lark would turn out to be a grand idea for future furniture--LOL! ;)
Yes! XBox, nuke me some veggie soup! (Time for lunch.) Take care, sweetie! :)

Never in a million years could I be this neat and organized. I wish I could be, but if you wonder why you never see pictures of my little house it is simply because I am a slob. Oh well.

TexWisGirl said...

yeah, too techie for me! :)

i like your very useful and utilized place! yup, you can use whatever furniture you like when it's all yours!

Trixie said...

You are "Un TEchy" like my friend Cinnamon (aka Marie). X box pause, I think she would flip! And she is MY AGE!!

I love seeing your changes. Did I ever post mine? Now I am gonna have to look. lol. If not maybe I will post all my changes and "Space Clearing" (Space Clearing is a Goddess Circle phrase)

I was gonna tell you something I dearly love is www.flylady.com I don't go crazy trying to do all things she says but at least learned a lot from her :)

BTW I have really come to cherish your site, your comments and your words :)

Happy 2012

Carolyn--Yes! I say use the space the most practical way for you. Nice! :)

Elisa--Oh I think it is going to be an amazing year, too!! :):)

Beth--Yes, Dagan and Leah set me up with a computer for TV so I could get Netflix and I have a wireless mouse and keypad for my computer/TV! I pretty much know how to use it, but I don't really understand it. I forget that it an actual computer with windows. I can even watch youtube videos on it--but I forget--LOL! My eyes aren't too good, so it's a tricky process. ;) Obviously I would have no clue how to do any of this on my own. Dagan and Leah keep me one foot in the techie world...but I fly blind a lot of the time--ROFL! ;) It is really awesome, though!! Really is! :):)

Rubye--Funny, I wouldn't think of neat and organized first. I always see too cluttered--LOL! It's nice to know. :)

Theresa--And I thought I was really snazzy with my computer TV...geez! These younger people are all about what is new and does more. I still don't fully understand my computer TV set up that I've had about two years now--LOL! I'm still getting used to the new phone with internet and such. Goodness! But if it wasn't for them, I'd never have had a cell phone at all. They feel like it's pulling teeth to get me to try something new. It is. ;)

Here I thought I was keeping up with technology... I did know
you could play Netflix through xbox, but voice control???? New one to me!

Your little apartment is the picture of organization. I, too, repurpose things all the time. It is fun!

I think you are really going to enjoy that love seat. Karma too once he forgives you ;)

Helo. I came here from Beths blog. You are a very interesting lady. I love to see a comfy home. I decorate with used treasures and we love books! Not enough shelf space here. I best git back to my new year's list, if I can find it. *sigh*

Rita said...

Trisha--I haven't seen changes at your place, but then I haven't been following you too long. Love to see them. :)
I think I ran across flylady a few years ago. I'm pretty well proficient at cleaning and organizing on my own, though--LOL!
Thank you so very, very much! That is just the nicest compliment I could wish for!!! :):):)

Deanna--I dont claim to know what's what with that kind of thing. Was startling to me and made me laugh!! Really was cool!
Hey, it's just practical to repurpose, right? ;)
Oh yes, she will forgive me taking her chair away...eventually. Maybe sooner than I think. She might take to the loveseat like a duck to water. :)

Nancy--Greetings!! So nice of you to stop by! You can never have enough shelves! Always need more storage space--LOL! Good luck with you list! :)

You have a wonderful home. It looks so neat and tidy. I'm envious. :)

Modern technology...great when it works, sucks when it doesn't. (can ya guess i've been having computer problems again?)

Rita said...

AliceKay--Well, it's crowded, but everything has its place. :)
Sorry to hear you are having computer problems again. Seems like nothing in the techie world ever works smoothly for too long. *sigh* I hope everything gets back in working order quickly. :)

Your home is so well organised with everything you need at the ready. I've been using a dining table as my studio table for years...until recently when I bought a trestle table for the studio. I love that you have Karma's bed on the chair. Cody and Jack love lying up on the couches in the lounge-room. They fluff up the cushions to lie on too.

It made me smile to see my painting hanging above your art table. I'm so happy you like it.

I've seen the advertisements showing the voice-activated Xbox. COOL!

Well, it's New Year's Eve here and I'm quite excited about welcoming a new year...'see' you then, my friend.

Happy New Year!

Love and hugs,
Serena xo

Oh, thanks for the tour of your home! The only thing missing was a little tea LOL I can't wait to see how everything looks after the new addition. Hope your finger is healing well. I still have nightmares after seeing that huge silver cleaver.

That was so funny about the xbox. I didn't get it when I read it the first time. I'm surprised my husband doesn't have that set up. Everything in my house is networked and wired together but I don't have to talk to it. One of these days I'll be saying "toaster. Toast!" And then there was toast... Happy last day of 2011!

Queenie Jeannie said...

Everything is so neat and organized - total heaven!!! If I lived alone I think my house would look like that too!

If you have some time, and the inclination, I could sure use your healing talents!!! My pain is spreading and last night was the worst night I've had so far. Clinic isn't open until next TUESDAY!!! I'm thinking it has to be a pinched nerve rather than a pulled muscle and boy, it is just throbbing away down my entire left arm, shoulder and upper back.

Rita said...

Serena--Karma having her bed on the chair would keep the amount of hair down, too! LOL!
I LOVE_LOVE_LOVE you daisy painting!! It never fails to lift my spirits any time I look at it. :):)
The XBox did something else with their hands and a hand on the screen, but that didn't work well at all, they said, so they never use it. Talk about strange, tho--they'd be waving their hand around and the little white hand on the screen would move...not well, but it would move! Spooky!
I'm responding on New Year's Eve morning here in Fargo. Best to you in the coming year, my friend!! :):)

Donna--I do have tea, but I mostly drink coffee. Well, I'm Swedish, what can I say--LOL! ;)
The cut is healing well. I can bend my finger and will have quite a scar, but it is doing well. :)
Hey! That will be the next thing..."Toaster, toast"..."Coffeepot, perk"..."Vacuum, start". I should live so long. With my luck, they won't listen to me. ;)

Jeannie--Thanks! Easier to keep clean when you live alone--LOL! ;)
Girl, you need to get in on Tuesday!! I will do a healing session now...9:30am Fargo time, New Year's Eve.

Jennibellie said...

Ooooh thank you for the pics (I lvoe a good snoop!!! lol) I just wanted to pop by and say I am really happy to have discovered you & your blog & HAPPY NEW YEAR to you (and give Karma an extra happy new year scratch from me please :) ) x

Rita said...

Jenny--I love seeing other people's places, too...especially art or craft studios!
I am happy we connected this year, too! I will give Karma and extra scritchy scratch from you and Happy, Happy New Year!! :)

Queenie Jeannie said...

Thank you for the healing! My arm was/is MUCH, MUCH better!!! I should have said, "arm, shoulder, neck and back" though, lol! It's mostly just the top of my shoulder on my left side now. I did get some sleep though and that makes everything better!!!

Rita said...

Jeannie--Oh my goodness!! I am so glad. You can read about what happened on the New Year's Day post. I sure hope you go in to the doctor on Tuesday, though. Promise me!! :):)

Those voice control things need the right tone and volume used on your voice to work. I've never trusted voice controlled things much myself. I'm greatful for them though; my ex had a voice control function on his phone, and it's how I learned what a scumbag he was. But that's another story, and not one for the blogs anyway! ;)

Rita said...

Tori--Goodness! Sounds like a scumbag. Email?
The voice control seemed to work sometimes and other times not. Wasn't sure if it was how it was said or where it was talked to--LOL! But it worked most of the time. :)
