What a dramatic, chilly sky this morning.
The clouds are scooting across the sky in the wind and we're back to hoping for 50 the next couple days, I guess. Seesaw weather. I think a lot of places are getting seesaw weather.
Yesterday was sunny with very few clouds and we got up to 70 degrees. Didn't feel that warm because of the wind, but it was a perfect day. I was surprised with an early Mother's Day delivery!
A dozen gorgeous red roses.
But that's not all!
Two dozen roses this year!?
At first I thought they must have made a mistake...
...but when I saw the single white rose I knew Leah had picked them out. ;)
She knows how I love variety! (There have been years she has gone and picked out every color they had for a multicolored bouquet.) Aren't they lovely! Leah is more than a daughter-in-law to me. We are truly dear friends. :)
I have to put the flowers up so Karma can't get to them during the night because she wants to try to eat them. (Sometimes it's a distinct advantage to have a cat that's too fat to jump very high--LOL!) She cries and begs for them--and goes especially crazy over baby's breath! So ridiculously much so (like a drug addict for an overdue fix) that Leah had to stop adding that altogether a few years ago because I couldn't even go to the bathroom and Karma'd be up on the table chomping and pulling away. I'm lucky she didn't tip the whole vase over--stinker!

This time I noticed Leah had added a whole variety of different filler plants! From that long grassy stuff to eucalyptus. I don't even know what half of it is--LOL! Love that! Thank you, Dagan and Leah. You are the true treasures in my life. :):)

I kept the green tissue paper as future crafting supplies, of course, but I set the big outside paper on the porch...
...knowing you-know-who couldn't last two seconds before investigating.
She took a quick rest...
...as long as she already knew she couldn't reach the flower vases...
...and I was all done dropping leaves and twigs on the floor for her to smell as I trimmed and arranged (she doesn't eat those, they keep her busy, and I don't have to listen to her cry and beg the whole time) and I had swept all her treasures away. Time for 20 winks.

Early Happy Mother's Day! :):)
(To those who celebrate it tomorrow.)

what dear kids!!! and cute karma. glad she got some things to play with. :)
I wonder why cats like paper and boxes and bits of stuff so much. We used to put newspapers in a small bin as we gathered them for recycling. One of our cats, Charlotte, loved settling in on or between the newspapers. I would like to have a day when I see everything through the eyes of a cat, and then a day with everything through the eyes of a dog.
Love,
Janie
What lovely roses! And that Karma is a stinker, love the way she crawled into the paper and took a nap, maybe she was dreaming of lying in a bed of baby's breath! waving hi from the stormy hills of North Carolina ♥
What beautiful roses! You are so blessed to have Leah in your life, I agree. And Karma too, of course! :-)
The clouds at the top are my favorite. They make my day.
Oh my - those roses are simply gorgeous!
Happy Mother's Day.
Beautiful roses!!
Those are beautiful roses! Happy Mother's Day!
Beautiful! Dagan and Leah are great kids. You are so very lucky to have kids like that to be there for you and treat you with such kindness and love.
I cracked up looking at the pics of Karma underneath that paper. LOL
Happy Mother's Day!
I collect tissue paper too. Latest one has animal print on it. Very chic.
You have some gorgeous flowers there, enjoy them!
When the roses are nearly over, I dry the flower heads in the sun or on a radiator or heater. They dry beautifully and look lovely in bowls around the house. Add some floral essence and you have yourself very cheap pot pourri.

:) You've a couple sweetheart kids (Leah is one of them!)
Visiting from creative every day. Lovely photography.
I had so much fun reading about your wonderful day. I bet it truly was wonderful. All those roses must have made you really smile.
What a joy to have a daughter-in-law who you can call a friend. She sounds more like a DAUGHTER to me.
Hope you are still smiling from all those roses. I bet your apartment smells heavenly!!
Dear Rita, what a lovely quotation from George Eliot. I plan to reread her novel "Middelemarsh" sometime this year, but haven't started it yet.
It's quite wonderful that you and Leah are so close an that she and Dagan each sent you roses. And of course, the fact that they came with that outer plastic or cellophane is a bonus for Karma. Peace always and ever.
Beautiful flowers! Happy Late Mother's Day..poor karma..no flowers for her:(
What a gorgeous sky! You are so lucky to have two precious people in your life like Dagan and Leah. Beautiful roses from beautiful people.
Lucky mum and lucky Karma! I can almost smell you gorgeous blooms!
