Tuesday-9pm

Disturbing Karma while she was napping yesterday...
...and she immediately scanned the porch...
...to see if she had missed anything?
Then checked for bugs? Who knows?
Dagan and Leah want me to come over to their place tomorrow night instead of coming over here. They want me to try out using their new system for TV to see if I like it--or that I can figure out how to use it--hehe! They've decided they don't want to move and instead are finding ways to cut costs. So they've been checking out ways to get TV with an excellent picture for less than thru the expensive cable company. Special antennas, the computer, mystery boxes...hehe! I'm not sure what all this involves, but they are also supposed to be able to record two programs at the same time, too--without VCRs!
****
They've been trying things out and have been keeping me in mind, too--tada! They're trying to figure out a system I could use that would save me money and be more convenient for me for recording, too. So, I'm excited to see what they have going over there. I'll bring my laptop with in case Leah and I have time to work on the Etsy shop, too.
****
Okay--this next part is for Dagan and Leah. (giggle)
****
You guys tease me all the time about my scrubbing and cleaning off all my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. Well, for the first time I tried leaving my mitts off of this "non-stick" pan--put in extra soap, ran the pot scrubber cycle, washed it right after I had used it so the food hadn't dried on, and it was at 3am so I had all the hot water in the building basically to myself--and look at the results--ROFL!!
See!? I was right! This is proof that I am not just simply anal about these things! (I really am smiling and giggling as I write this.) I'll just stick with my wiping and scrubbing everything off, thank you very much. And I still contend that these cheap dishwashers are nothing more than sterilizing machines. ;)
****
The pan is soaking in my sink right now. Just waiting for a little personal attention. :) :)

Alright, first of all, what we have here for TV now, for anyone interested is a Media Center Computer and an HD Antenna. Because we have a new HD TV that can take the HD signal, we basically get the regular over the air channels but in High Definition, for free, now in order to record, we have a computer that Dagan build, we spent more than you would need, but that's because we are geeky computer people, if you want more specifics, let Rita know and I can send them to you through her. :)

Having the computer hooked up to the TV in this way allows many things, such as the ability to watch Netflix Watch it now/Instant watch on our big TV rather than on a small laptop screen. :D

Since we now only have the basic channels and not all the added ones like TLC, HGTV, A&E, and such, we can watch shows from those other channels using that channels website or Hulu, again on our big TV.

We can also record shows just like if we had a DVR from a cable company, we have a dual tuner so we can record two shows at the same time, and it just goes onto our hard drive. Which is another bonus, because we would often run out of room recording in HD with our DVR from the cable company, now we have as much room as we need with a very large hard drive hooked up to the computer, it's awesome! :)

Oh, we can also watch shows that we have in a digital form, such as old TV shows that we have gotten from friends.

Now, about that pan from the dishwasher, yes pans you do have to scrub, I never said you didn't, it's the glasses, plates, and silverware that bugs me... You wash them all, you could drink a glass of water and you would still wash it before you put it in the dishwasher, it's just silly, those things will get clean, pretty much no matter how cheap your dishwasher is... Now if you could get yourself to not wash the dishes(which is the term I've always used), not pans before you put them in the dishwasher that would be a real feat! :)

Last but not least, yes I know Rita, I said that we were going to bed, but just before I saw your email and well, here I am...Now we really are going to bed, good night... Zzzzz...

Thank you kindly,
Leah

PS, sorry that got so long... It's hard to tell when it's just in this little box, please skip it, I won't mind if you don't read it, as it's not important...

Thank you kindly,
Leah

About that pan.....in my house I had to scrub everything before loading the dishwasher, had to wash it so much that I figured why even put it in the dishwasher....where it would end up with white film on it? I had to add lemi-shine with every load and a $4 for a small container that would last about a week, I decided to forget about the dishwasher which is just a sterilizing machine like you said. Now I hand wash and as long as everything is done after each use, it's not really a big deal. I kinda like hand washing.

I like the feel of hot soapy water on my battered hands so - I don't mind scrubbing dishes before putting them in the "sanitizing machine".

:)

Leah needs a blog! LOL! Sounds like a neat TV hookup. I might want to try that!

I'd never ever pay for cable TV.

Iggy - LOLOL, me have a blog!? It would be updated once a week, if it was lucky... ;) Anyway though Iggy, I can send you more specs on it when I get home and confer with my tech(Dagan). He will be able to fill in the details as I only mostly know what it's specs are, Dagan is the one who built it and knows all the details. :)

Thank you kindly,
Leah

I don't have a dishwasher, but when I make jam or relish, I use a friend's dishwasher to sterilize the jars instead of boiling them, then just leave them in the dishwasher and take out a couple at a time when I'm filling them. Much easier than boiling them.

The only reason I use our dishwasher is that we are a big family and, since having a dishwasher for the first time when we moved here, it helped cut some of the workload. Despite a full dishwasher load, I still always have things to wash up after the evening meal that don't fit in the dishwasher because it's already packed full. Sometimes, I wonder why I don't just wash and dry everything by hand when, like you, I do tend to rinse of the plates and scrub pans before putting them in the dishwasher. I have also learned to always leave a double space between dishes to avoid food staying on plates when in the dishwasher. Despite all my attention to making sure everything is loaded correctly into the dishwasher with lots of room around items, we will still occasionally find food stuck-dried to a dish, pan, or piece of cutlery and our dishwasher is supposed to be high quality.

I like the idea of using a dishwasher to sterilise jam jars!

The HDTV and computer that Dagan and Leah have set-up sounds great!

That tv and computer hookup sounds complicated to me, but I'm not very computer savvy. I'm glad it works so well for Leah and Dagan. (i have an older style 27-inch tv that's hooked up to cable) I have cable guys buried in my back yard. Just ask Iggy. LOL

I have a dishwasher but hardly ever use it. About the only time I do is when I have a big family dinner, and that isn't very often. The guy who fixed it for me a year or so ago told me I need to use it more often so the hoses won't dry up and crack, but I haven't. Besides, I have a great view from my kitchen sink window. You've seen it on my blog quite a few times. :)

Hi Leah,
I don't quite understand how it all worked, but I really, really liked it! :) :)

Our dishwasher disagreement will never be resolved--hehe! I still get dirty silverware and plates if I just stick them in the dishwasher dirty. I'll continue to scrub every thing off before it goes in the dishwasher and you can continue to razz me--ROFL!! And Dagan is probably right--you guys probably have a better dishwasher than I do. ;)

Barbara, if I got a white film on my dishes after I ran them thru the dishwasher I'd do them all by hand, too! Spending lots of extra money just to run the dishwasher and not have a film--I'd do the same thing. :):)

Iggy--these days you don't have to pay to see a lot of the cable shows anyways. And there's only so much a person can watch (or wants to watch)--even when you're home 24/7--hehe! That's why I don't have it either. This TV/computer set-up is really neat! :)

I scrub all my dishes before they go in the dishwasher, too.

Sue--that make me chuckle! Really would work well for sterilizing jam jars--or baby bottles--anything like that--hehe! :)

Serena,
I am alone so it's easy for me to make sure the dishes have plenty of room and all that--and even tho I do the same thing you do, I still will have food left on them, too, if I don't make sure they're wiped or scrubbed off. You'd think we had the same crummy dishwasher--hehe! :)

Hi AliceKay,
The TV/computer system would be way beyond my capabilities! None of this would ever be possible for me if it weren't for Dagan and Leah, that's for sure. Dagan is probably going to build me the computer I will need! Amazes me.

You do have really nice dishwashing views out your window. ;)

Don't have one myself, but when staying with people that do, I wash by hand & use the dishwasher as a dish drain.
Works for me. I shit you not!

Hi female I shit you not!
That's actually a practical idea. Otherwise you'd need to have a dishrack on the countertop--why bother--hehe! You made me smile!! :):)
