August 11, 2025 Monday--5am

Well, kind of had the wind knocked out of my sails this past week.

I was busy packing and pre-cooking foods all week.

Monday: Lady from Goldmark management called about an apartment showing Tuesday afternoon at 4pm.  Fine.

Tuesday: Got a call from the office here asking if I could do the walk-through-before-you-move at 1pm.  Fine.

The lady I like from the office here and a maintenance guy (not Jerald) showed up for the walk-through at 1pm.  She'd even heard I was supposed to have a showing already.  They were surprised at all the things we were leaving...extra shelves Leah installed for the pantry and laundry, for example.  They were only here about 15 minutes.  It went really well.

The lady from Goldmark that was supposed to show the apartment...never showed up and never called.  Still hasn't even bothered to call.

Wednesday:  Got the CT Scan results on My Chart online.  Didn't look good.  Fluid around both my ovaries and one is enlarged since last scan 6 months ago.

I kept cooking and packing.  Did laundry.

Thursday: Got the message from Dr. Failing's nurse.  Could be cancer.  Could be benign.  Referring me to genecology...who want me to take this blood test that sometimes shows results if there is ovarian cancer (but not totally accurate).  I replied that I will make it to the lab this week one day after Dagan and Leah are back home from Minneapolis (today--Monday).  That was fine, she said.  No real hurry.

Needed to adjust to the new medical news.  I already figured that was probably what they were going to say after I read the final report...but it still took the wind out of my sails.

Some rain came through.
Allie and I watched the rain bouncing on the patio cement until the wind picked up and it switched over to really pouring.
During the night we had a predicted bad storm (that I slept through).  Woke up to the electric company having sent texts and emails to let me know my electricity had been restored--lol!  Glad of that.
Friday: McFamily left for Dagan's annual cardiologist appointment in Minneapolis.  Be back today--Monday.  They make a mini-vacation of it when they can.  Get to visit with her youngest sister, her hubby, and their little cousin...and they usually do some fun things.  A Twins baseball game was on the schedule. :)  I hope all went well with Dagan's doctors.

I've started to collect some things by the door we should take over in cars...and to decide what cleaning supplies should stay for this end of things.
Blogger won't center this photo for some arbitrary reason?
Anyways, finished the shelves over the washer and dryer and the rolling shelves are empty between them.  (Leaving that little black cart, too--was hard to find one narrow enough.)
Boxes and more boxes and bins.
The box-wall grows and grows.
I totally forgot about the hall closet--lol!  I already had gone through and purged a couple years ago, but I will purge again as I empty it and pack.  Some things are already in boxes, so that is good. :)
Besides the hall closet, I am down to the kitchen and pantry.  Need to be done by Friday.

As I walked around to take pictures...Allie followed me.  I wish I could explain to her that we are in this together and I am not leaving her.
The two stacks of satchels in the corner of the living room are packed away except for an essential one.  :)
Allie is sleeping in different than her normal summer spots.  Like she has to check all her beds are where they should be--lol!
Won't be long now.  The plan is they will start moving things over Saturday and then move Allie and I and the last of the essentials on Sunday.  And I will probably wait till Friday to go get blood drawn.  I am very busy, would prefer to vote for benign, and don't want to hear until after I move if it's not--lol!  Got enough on my plate in the immediate future, right?

So, being as I write the blog on Sundays and we will be moving on Sunday...I will write and post a blog as soon as I can next week.  The movers are delivering all the boxes and furniture the following Thursday.  It is finally happening!  My forever home!  I can take as long as I want to unpack and organize!  I will be so glad when the move is finally done and dusted!!  Allie and I will have a few days to adjust before the movers come.  I can get all my clothes sorted...and test out my new red chair for sitting and sleeping.  :)  I'll be back as soon as I am able.  :)

Rita, you are so strong and I am so pleased that you are finally getting to move into your new home, and I am sure you and Allie will settle in nicely. Take care and I am thinking of you.

Moving is always extremely stressful (I've done it more times than I care to remember). Having to deal with serious medical issues on top of everything undoubtedly makes it a nightmare.
You're strong and resilient and I have faith that you'll get through it. Despite the negatives, it's an exciting time.
Take it easy - - big hugs for you and Allie.

Such an exciting time! And I am praying for benign for you, dear friend. Allie is anxious, as am I, but it will be just fine, hopefully. Love you two so much!

You will have busy week, praying for good results from that blood test. Sometime the waiting to find out is harder than the news. Explain to Allie about the move!!

What I have learned over the years with medical stuff, is if the doctor doesn't bring you in right now! to get the bloodwork done or other testing then they aren't that worried about it. However, I think you are right in waiting until the move is done. You have a lot on your plate and moving is very stressful. Glad the walk through went well. You have done a lot with packing and getting this place all ready. I will say it again, thank the gods you have your family close and willing to help. Allie, knows something is up but she will do fine with the move too. Sending healing energy to you.
