Tuesday-9:30am

Good Morning!
It doesn't look this nice out there right now.
It's 30 degrees, totally light grey sky, almost looks foggy, and so dark I have to have a light on to type this.  Says we could have light snow.  I believe them.
We have had some sun and a few days in the low 30s.  Warm enough to melt during the day a little and then freeze into ice every evening.
Most mornings look like this for me.  Coffee, laptop, stack of letters to be answered, my Quo Vadis journal (yes, I have a bulldog clip to hold it open--another one of the little things I never think about until I take a picture that I do to save the bum arm from having fits)...and now the red bullet journal with a box of FriXion pens and highlighters on top, Miss Brother, and the untouched tote (which I hope to finally get to hand sewing the bottom on today if my back is in a better mood).
It's T Stands For Tuesday over at Elizabeth's and I have a couple shots today of my favorite red thermos cup, actually.  Can you believe that I have posted three times in four days!?  Goodness!
****
Karma takes it all in stride.
Good news!  I forgot to show you how I got ink all over my shirt--LOL!  I was finishing off the rest of the ink sample in the dish on a blank page in the journal (using a prescription bottle which works so cool--like a circle with a built in handle you can toss away)...
...and splatted orange ink all over a lavender t-shirt, right?   Thought I had just created another art paint shirt...but it all disappeared in the washing machine--tada!  Obviously not permanent ink.  Wish I remembered which ink sample that was--LOL!  But good news!  The shirt was saved!  Now I just have to remember to put on a paint shirt before I start playing at the art table.  ;)  Hey, maybe I should just drape one over the chair to remind me--duh!
****
Okay...I have to show you this!!  I grabbed this old pillow cover (Leah's mom was throwing a set of them away and Leah grabbed them for me for craft projects or whatever) and decided to see how badly Miss Brother was going to sew on more regular fabric with regular thread, right?
****
Front.
Back.
No really...take a closer look!
Front.
Back.
No wiggly, looped stitches!
No clumps of jammed thread!
Looks perfect--front and back!!
Proof that Miss Brother is not, in fact, out of alignment.  She was just not created to handle heavy duty anything, I guess.
****
So, maybe I have been too hard on her?  Maybe it is not her fault she did such a crappy job on the tote?  There really is barely room to fit layers of heavy fabric under her pressure foot...takes a lot of manipulation, pushing, and shoving.  The powers that be did not create her to do heavy duty anything.  She's a delicate, lightweight creature...meant to float over fabrics that glide easily beneath her robotic fingers.  Maybe I have misjudged her.  Yes, she is still a fussy, temperamental little diva...but she can't help it if that's the way the Brother Gods created her, right?
****
If I accept her limitations...truly accept her as she is...and if she can behave like this if I don't ask too much of her...and keep my hand off her wheel unless she jams...there exists the potential that we may finally become colleagues...maybe even, dare I say it, friends.
Time will tell.
****
Last night my back wasn't throwing the nasty hissy fits, so I was feeling up to short visits to the art table--tada!
Yes, crazy me--I found out that if I signed up for the DLP's (Documented Life Project) blog that I can get the challenges that way.  (I still don't have permission to read the challenge archives on their website even though I deleted my membership and can read everything else?)  Doesn't matter to me because I am not on facebook or any of those other social sites and do these challenges more for my own amusement...so I also dedicated another junk journal to the DLP group challenges.  I really do want to use up these journals I made with the crappy cheap unsatisfactory, student grade paper, anyways.  ;)
****
So the first DLP challenge you were supposed to use book paper and the prompt is about being your own goal keeper.  (Remember I am three weeks behind on all challenges--LOL!)  I got the torn page pieces glued down (have a couple paperbacks I have sacrificed to art journaling).
I even slapped on some gesso to dry overnight...was still wet here.
So, now I have two weekly challenge groups "on which to be behind" (been watching Downton Abbey)--ROFL!  Hey, I'll just do what I can or want to.  I don't actually participate in the groups online so what does it matter, right?  (You know I am talking to my OCD-self--lol!)  I do not want to just give up this year.  I'm going to continue to putter with them.  Keeps me out of trouble, right?  ;)
****
Anyways, have a great day!!  :):)
Might be back sooner than I think--lol!

glad ms. brother does a good job on the right fabrics for her tastes. :) we're fogged in here, too, today. and tomorrow we get cooler temps and a chance of rain again.

Glad you're managing to get some artwork created, as and when. It must be a relief that your machine is aligned correctly. We have freezing temps everyday just now. We had some snow but it didn't last long I'm happy to say. I prefer the frost, to kill the viruses. Happy T Day Rita :o)

So glad you and your Brother have come to some friendly arrangement... you don't work her too hard and she plays nicely... seems a great way to move forward in your relationship! LOL Looks pretty nippy there and lots of snow... stay warm indoors and play with your journals... and do what you want when you want... Happy T Tuesday to you! Annette

Is there anything on the sewing machine you can adjust for thickness of fabric?
A knob or a rod. There is one on mine.....but I guess you have read the manual and gone down that road.
Some machines are just not built for heavy duty!

Well, regardless of what you are doing, how much of an art challenge you choose to do-or not- you sound like you are having fun along the way without obligations or deadlines and that can be a really GOOD thing too! And hooray for working things out and compromising with your Brother:) Happy T day!

Glad to read that Miss Brother and you are now on speaking terms. That's good news. I have trouble when I add several thick layers, so I can see why IT (SHE?) might have been resistant.

I see you have gotten bit by the DLP and even more so now you can access their web site. Wonder why they made it so difficult to join. Dianne has been a member for the second year, so maybe she can help you figure it out.

Thanks for sharing your SNOW (OH NO) with us, along with your day for T this Tuesday. BTW, unless it is India Ink, most of those inks will not be permanent. That can be a real problem if you don't want them to bleed if they get wet on the page, but a blessing if you get ink on a shirt.

I am often on catch up and last year gave up on a couple of fortnightly challenges- not happy, but I think I would have been more unhappy carrying on and being so far behind!

Glad the paint or ink or whatever came out of your shirt! I never remember to wear old , already messed up clothes. I also have two aprons hanging in my art room closet, but do I ever remember? Nope! My new brother has a relatively low clearance, too. My old one still works so I will use it for heavy duty stuff!

have fun with the DLP! you have the right idea...do what you want when you can. I am not feeling quite so dedicated to it this year as I was last year...but we shall see. happy T day!

You never cease to amaze me with the projects you take on. Glad to hear that Miss Brother is actually useful! You sound like you're still in a very good mood and I wish you luck with that DLP, the sort of thing I would NEVER take on. :-)

Hi, Rita! We could all learn a life lesson from Kitty Kat Karma. Take everything in stride (or just sleep through it). Is it just my imagination or has snow been scarce in most parts of the country so far this winter?

Have a happy Wednesday, dear friend Rita!

My back is giving me fits as well!! I'm trying to catch up here at the computer a bit but not sure how long I can take it. And there is shoveling to do...sad face.
Happy T day!!

Hope you got your snow... Wish I had some!

Glad the ink came out of your shirt. Yes, perhaps putting a painting shirt on the chair will remind you to wear one... It's worth a try, anyway!

That's great that you've found a way to begin a potential friendship with Miss Brother. No, she can't help how she was made, and can't help it if she has those limitations. You and I know how she must feel being limited in her capabilities compared to others...

Lots going on in your - and now sewing - areas, Glad you and the Stitch Diva are getting along so well. I like you ink circles page. I don't get so much ink on my clothes but boy can I ruin a shirt while cooking, LOL! I have a problem with keeping up with challenges that's why I don't often join. I feel pressure to produce no matter how relaxed the rules are. I am trying Journal52 though. The rules say you can catch up anytime.

So glad you have resolved the issues with Miss Brothers and I look forward to your future projects. We are still having warmer weather here ...48° today. So I have ventured outside a bit more. It's been nice but winter is supposed to return over the weekend.

Great to hear that you are feeling a bit better, at least enough to start on your new challenges anyway! I hope you and Miss Diva DO become friends! Hi to Karma! I've been a long time fan of Downton Abbey!!!! I saw Season 5 as it came out by watching it online. It was so hard not to talk about it because all my Stateside friends were months and months behind!

I JUST started watching Downton Abbey myself and am loving it. Stay warm and hug Karma for me!

Glad your back is better that is no fun at all!
I inherited my mother's Pfaff sewing machine and it is a workhorse
the only problem I have is changing the bobbin is a nightmare...
I am on the verge of donating it and getting something simple for sewing paper mostly.
Have fun with the DLP and Happy Thursday Rita

Hope you found the pressure adjustment on your sewing machine. Every machine has one, or you couldn't go from silk to tweed.
When you get the adjustment right, the stitches always meet in the middle of the two layers of fabric.

I'm glad Miss Brother works properly when given easier jobs. ;)

We got a little snow yesterday and last night. About an inch and a half out there. Getting a lot colder out, too. It's down to 21 or so at the moment.

Enjoy your weekly challenge groups. Do what you can when you can.

I'm glad you found out that Miss Brother is not misbehaving too badly. And it must have been a relief to know the paint washed out. Lavender and orange are the nicest colour combo. ;)

We have been having some warming which is creating ice here too. Makes for some treacherous walks. Love your dedication to journalling. I can't even keep up on the blogs lately :( Hope you have a great weekend Rita!

I'm still a week behind! :( I'm glad Miss Brother is working better with the "lighter stuff!".

OH dear, poor Miss Brother...all this time, it was purely a case of her having way too much expected of her delicate charms. ;) So glad to hear she has been vindicated. I had written in my letter about maybe trying a denim needle but I read that you had already done that.

Every time I paint with acrylics, I always end up with paint somewhere. If it's not in my hair, it's on my arms or face, and sometimes, on my clothes. The funny thing is that I usually don't notice the paint marks until I'm out and about in public. lol

Have fun with the art journal challenges. :)
