Tuesday-11am

Karma especially enjoyed her cat-nest of grocery bags this month.  In fact she slept in it so frequently I let her keep it for two whole days.  I called "Karma!" to get a picture...she did lift her head...but refused to look at me (disgruntled with the disturbance)...
...and settled right back into her cat-nest.
I finally got out the quilt making round cutter contraption (Ruby gave me a large and a small one with great warnings as to how sharp they were so I've been afraid to use them) and my very heavy metal ruler I use to tear watercolor paper...and cut the red leather for the fauxdori cover replacements.
Used a very sharp pair of scissors to cut the notches in the center to keep the rubber bands in place (my version of a fauxdori cover).
This leather is a lot thinner.
Floppy, but it works.
And I didn't forget a picture including my trusty old thermal mug for T Stands for Tuesday over at Elizabeth's this week--LOL!
What I plan to do is back the red leather with some as-stiff-as-I-can-find, iron-on interfacing.  That should give it a little more body.  May need a trip to JoAnn's, eh?  :)
****
I couldn't believe how sharp that rolling cutter actually was!  Sliced through the leather like butter!  And why isn't Miss Karma lying on these scraps on the floor?  (Believe me--she was later, of course, so I took the thin ones out because she tries to eat anything that even vaguely resembles a string)
Was because it was a hot afternoon so I had the AC on and Karma was out on the porch enjoying the heat and looking for bugs while I was working on the covers.
There are rain spots all over the porch door, I noticed.
And Karma noticed me with the camera--LOL!
Yesterday I was over to visit the McFamily.  I rocked Ian to sleep and held him for a long time while he slept so Mama could do some computer work (and I could have me some Gramma-time--hehe!).  Later on the floor, with toys dangling over his head, Ian was fixated on his reflection in that unopened black package propped over to the right there.  Kicking his feet and waving his arms...
...and watching the other baby move around.
Even when Daddy came home to say hi...
...and Sammy came to greet Daddy...Ian watched that other baby!
I've never seen him so quiet for so long--LOL!  They discovered this intent fascination by accident and have left the shiny package there for Ian, of course.  Wait till he figures out that it's him in the reflection!   Babies and toddlers are such fun because everything is brand new and exciting.  :)
 ****
Anyways, today is going to be busy.  Caroline comes to clean this afternoon and guess who's coming over to surprise her?  Leah and Ian!!  Wonder what Miss Karma will think of that?  ROFL!  My guess?  Fascinated but frightened.
****
Leah and I are going to put together the cheap 5-arm lamp Leah picked up for me at Target ($13.99!).  I need more light at my art table.  So dark over there...even moreso at night and on dark, cloudy days.  I only have the one desk lamp as a kind of spotlight.  My old floor lamp that I currently have next to the art table is pretty darn useless really.  So I can hardly wait!!  Let there be light!!
****
Karma is blissfully unaware of what this day holds.  Now if I can just remember to pick up the camera...
****
Happy Tuesday!!  :):)

Yay, first trip to Grandma's house! And so typical that packaging is more fascinating than toys. LOL

That red leather looks so soft--it makes a great cover even if it is a little too thin!

Lots of excitement for you today! New lighting is always good. Thanks for sharing the photos of your cutie today!

Be careful with Karma & plastic grocery bags!!

I have the same attitude Karma seems to have when someone tries to take my picture.

Well Karma looks so comfy, but what a face when he caught you with the camera!
Sooty made a nest in my clean sheets and towels when I left them by the airing cupboard one night to fold the next day!
Hope Karma wasn't too tramatised by the baby!

Our two love Kenny to bits!

Such a fun post. What can go wrong when you're talking cats and kids?! I love the cover you made - Maybe I should try one of those cutter things. But sharp and me always winds up badly ;). Lovely post!

What a fun time you have with baby Ian. And of course, Karma never ceases to amuse me. Bleubeard assures me he will NEVER be that amenable to my photographing him.

Nicely done on the faux leather. I actually like it better and you didn't have to take a month to get it prepared, either (grin).

Thanks for sharing your squirming grandson and adorable Karma for T this Tuesday. Sorry I didn't see your post. Even though people sometimes don't link, I usually see the post and leave a comment. Didn't happen this week, though.

I bought one of those rolling cutters a long time ago. I was going to cut squares of fabric for quilting. That thing couldn't cut soft butter. Yours must be a lot better than mine was, which I threw out eventually. I would like to have a shiny package next to me so I can watch the strange lady who taps away on the laptop. Some day, I'll figure out who she is. Ian is so beautiful. I am so jealous.

Love,
Janie

Karma and her nest! It makes me laugh to see what strikes her fancy. She's now Auntie Cat, does she know it yet? :-)

Auntie Cat for sure!! Ian is a month old already!! Good that you had some granny time with him:)

I hope Karma has more fascination than fear of the new small human coming to visit!

I would be worried that Karma might sleep for too long in those plastic bags. Though they must be quite cosy!
Aww Bless Ian for making sure the other baby was ok!

Your quote says it all about kiddies...what a joy for you to be there to watch little Ian grow!
A quilting friend told me the most important thing about using the cutters is to never cut toward yourself (I find that I always hold my breath when using one = hah).
Your books look great already and must be fun to hold.
Glad Karma is enjoying these summer days too.
Happy Wednesday!
So nice of you to visit my Magpie's Nest ... thank you Rita.

The Journals look great !! It's always entertaining to watch babies stare at their own image in something :) Good luck with the first visit at Grandma's House...hope Karma doesn't get too miffed ♥

I suspect that Karma won't think Ian is a bag or a box so she won't try to lay on or crawl into him.

Smiles. :)

The red leather looks really nice!

Oh what a joy you have with that cat.. I remember how it was way back :) - Yes !! You need light to be able to work both at night and in cloudy weather, I have the same problem - Can only do some with during the day. Thank you so much for visiting my blog - Happy happy T-day to you
Kind regards

What is it with cats and bags? Well, as long as she's happy... LOL!

I hope Karma is more fascinated than frightened, and that she can get up the courage to stay out of hiding to meet Ian.

That's one of the reasons I love little kids so much... Everything is always new and exciting to them!

Thank you so much for the welcome Rita and many congratulations on becoming a new grandma. I saw a quote that said, 'Grandchildren are Gods way of compensating us for growing old' Haha - I love that and I can guarantee your time with Ian will be even more wonderful.
We love to have adventures and always try for as many as possible in the school holidays.I have a thermal cup too, it's perfect on cooler days when we go to the playground just across the road so Wee Man can ride his bicycle.
The images of Ian watching his reflection are so cute.
Have lots of fun
Thanks for coming to visit :-D

Yeah I think Karma may be a little put out by baby Ian but that is normal and she will adjust

Karma does look very comfortable!

Karma will be fine, maybe his nose might be out of join but hey he is the king of the castle after all. Ian is growing so fast and the world though infants eyes is a wonderful world of discovery. Have fun with your new light too may the force be with you.

Hugs Eliza & Yoda
Happy belated T day

How funny Karma is. That cat could make a bed out of anything. Lovin your fauxdori books. So very creative you are! Hope you take lots of pictures of Ian and the visit!

Great pics of Karma and little Ian. It's fun watching them discover new things. Have you taken any video of him to share with us?

I was looking thru some old videos on my computer yesterday (was deleting duplicate files) and found one of Ryan that I hadn't "converted" to a mpeg. He was so cute and so little. LOL All grown up and starting kindergarten on August 26th.

Oops...guess I should have scrolled down and checked before making that last comment about the videos. :p
