Saturday-10am

New (about six-month) belly shot!
Dagan and Leah were here Wednesday.  I don't think I had seen Leah for five weeks!  We all still have the tail end of this head cold thing, but are all slowly feeling better.  It was technology night that night.  I suddenly couldn't log in to Cashwise on my TV computer, either, that day.  Grrr!  When Dagan cleared out the whole browser cache (on both) I could finally log on to Cashwise.  Ahhh!  We tested it a couple of times on my laptop and before I went to bed I did a final tweak of my grocery order for April so I was ready to order in the morning.
****
Meanwhile, Leah tried reinstalling Chrome on the McLap to see if that cleared up the weird loading and having to refresh to use a page issues I've been having.  Nope.  No clue.
****
Dagan figured out that the reason one of my tuners (for recording TV shows) wasn't working was the cord is bad.  Still no clue why the antenna goes bonkers.  Even tried switching to another power strip.  Nada.
****
Everything was done that could be done and they headed for home early.  (We're all tired and Dagan still had work to do from home.)  Was so nice to see them, though.  And they're coming back next week--since we missed some time--so Leah and I can work on cards.  :)
****
The sun comes in at a different angle now in the mornings.

A couple different mornings I caught Karma carpet lounging by my chair at the craft table.

Anyways, I got up on Thursday to make my grocery order...and couldn't log in!  Once again it said that I had made three unsuccessful attempts and to close my browser (which doesn't fix the problem).  The TV computer let me log on so I was able to make my grocery order (which came yesterday).  It dawned on me that I had been on the McLap three times just fine but on the fourth time it won't let me in.  Leah tried it on her computer--same thing.  Can get in fine three times and the fourth time I get locked out.  Their program is reading my log-ins as failed attempts.  So it is Cashwise's problem!  Not mine, at least!
****
But try to explain it to the Cashwise Delivers guy over the phone when you don't speak Computer.  *sigh*  I'll try to call back next week and get somebody else.  [I have never seen "hand ring" written on my receipt before, either--even if it was crossed out.  ??]  So, unless they fix this, every fourth time I will have to clear my browser cache to be able to log in...which I don't know how to do and would have to learn...and afterwards I have to re-log into my other sites, too.  :(
****
Technology has not been my friend lately...and I am too tired to deal with it.  Which makes me want to steer clear of McLap...and explains why I am a week or so behind online.  Sorry.  Hopefully I will catch up over the weekend.
****
The other thing that's going on is I am in the process of slowly switching over to a new, extreme diet.  I figure it will take me a couple of months to be on it as close to 100% as I can get.  Can't afford to do it all at once and will be using up the "not allowed" foods I already have first so I figure it will be June by the time I have both feet in the water.  It's basically an elimination diet.  You eat a very limited diet and take a bunch of supplements (like probiotics) until your system gets back in balance...can be 6-12 months!  Chronic inflammation can cause all kinds of problems (most of which I have) from IBS to arthritis to headaches.  I've been reading about this off and on for the last year or so, but the diet is so extreme that I just couldn't bring myself to taking that huge leap.
****
No processed foods, gluten, sugar, soy, dairy, eggs, or coffee!!  No potatoes, corn, peas, mushrooms, peppers, citrus...the list goes on and on.  :(
****
I was searching online and there are a bunch of diets that are very similar, actually.  Detox diet, Eating Clean, Anti-inflammation Diet, Leaky Gut Diet, diet to reduce belly fat, The Cleanse, etc, etc.  Some are stricter than others.  I am starting out by keeping a few questionable products (according to some of the diets but not others) like rice, oats, nuts, beans, and lentils--because I don't eat meat.  I am going with the more lenient lists, I guess, to start out with.  Several places said that oats don't have the same kind of gluten as wheat...so I am keeping my oatmeal for now, but that one seems the most questionable.
****
This month I did order some gluten free bread and bagels so that I could read the labels and try the taste test.  (Sadly, I do suspect gluten may not be the forever friend I believed it was.)  I ordered six months worth of supplements.  If it takes me two months to slowly cross over, that gives me four months on the full diet with the supplements.  If I don't start feeling noticeably better and have a change in the IBS symptoms, I may have to eliminate more foods--but this is supposed to work.  Once your system feels more in balance then you can start adding back foods one at a time very slowly--like maybe one a week--to see how your body reacts or doesn't react to it.
****
For now, I am just working at the first steps in crossing over into this land of little oral satisfaction--ROFL!  One of the first hurdles for me is limiting myself to only one thermal mug of coffee in the morning.  Sorry, I am not going cold turkey!  I usually drink coffee from the time I wake up until I shut the lights off and go to bed...since I was 17.  It may be only one pot or less a day these days, but I am used to sipping coffee all day and night.  Hey I have Swedish genes, ya know!  I can't even imagine life without coffee.  I need to be weaned.  Slowly.
****
I can drink green and herbal teas.  Almond or rice milk.  Water.  Some say lemon juice.  I can use stevia for sweetener--and a few other things I've never heard of like Yacon syrup?  LOL!  Going to make a trip to Tochi's (and Target) on Thursday with Leah.
****
All I can say is wish me luck!
I feel like I'm praying for a miracle!
****
My main motivation is McBaby, of course.  ;)
If my knees didn't swell and hurt so badly I might be able to get down on the floor once in a while to play blocks.  That's a lot of incentive for Gramma Rita, ya know!  ;)
****
Have a great rest of the weekend!  :):)
****
Oh!  Oh!  I found the perfect quote to help push me onward into the land of no chocolate chip cookies!
****
"Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be the miracle."

Leah looks good. Not that much different than the three or four month pic. Perfect.

I have liked coffee and Chardonnay in my lifetime.I can give up wine much easier than coffee. Headache City. Loss of personality. I love coffee.

I'll be interested in hearing how your new diet goes and if you notice improvements. Some of the same issues you struggle with I do too. I just haven't been as courageous to do what you are doing! :)

Sorry to hear about all the computer and technology issues. Hopefully this will be a better week for that.

Sounds like you need more McRest & maybe a new McDiet--Good luck with your new McGrandbaby!!

Try the probiotics first!!! I have suffered with IBS and the probiotics have really helped me! I bought the Phillips brand but I am sure a store brand would be just as good as they are a bit pricey.

Karma sure does like the sun puddles!

McBaby is coming along nicely!

That's an incredibly restrictive and difficult diet. But I have faith that you'll get through it in your time and in your way. May you be immensely healthier because of it.

Leah is looking wonderful and so is the every sweet Karma.

Oh, Rita, I truly hope the deprivation brings you much less pain and much more energy. Do wean off the caffeine. My daughter was told to eliminate coffee and she quit cold turkey. She had nearly debilitating headaches for several weeks. Hubby is also extremely sensitive to caffeine. If he doesn't get a strong ice tea or Diet Coke early in the morning, he, too, gets an awful headache. I wish you much luck!

I was born with a form of arthritis, and I apparently eat ALL the wrong foods. Like you, I'm a vegetarian, but will never be a vegan, because I like my dairy too much. I could NEVER give up coffee, either. That would be the killer for me. But I applaud you for your efforts. I certainly hope this diet gives you the strength you need.

McMom to be looks good.

Keep us posted on your diet. My arthritis in my knees is getting bad - I am now considering diet changes to try and deal with it. Congrats on that grandbaby! I know you are sure getting excited. We have grandchild #7 coming in August. They are all so much fun. Have a great week.

I am right there with you technology issues! They drive me up a wall and I have to have my husband figure it out for me.
Good luck with the diet... I've thought about trying it too but don't want to be buying and fixing two separate grocery list . My husband would never go on it with me and I don't really blame him as I"m not thrilled with the prospect myself :) My IBS got so bad this past summer that I had to give up coffee and it nearly killed me!!!!! Like you I drank it all day long . It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life!
Best of luck with your trial and I will be following your progress ♥

I use CClaeaner to clean up my computer. Along with AVG...so far it is keeping the bad stuff at bay.

I quit coffee cold turkey for my Blood Pressure, it was no fun.
Have you tried decaf? I drink hot water for something warm:)

I would try cutting out gluten before going on a drastic diet and see if that works. I have a friend who is always detoxing...LOL she could write a book.

I hope the diet helps my parents swear by probiotics but I have never tried them

Good luck with the new diet. I don't know if I could do it.

Sorry about all the technology issues. I think the computer people should focus on fixing problems and stop trying to make new "toys" so we can actually enjoy the technology items we have, and use them when we want to without having to call technical support first.

Good luck with the new diet. I know I could never do a diet as restrictive as that; if I tried I'd want the not allowed foods even more than I want them now, because that's how I work. I hope it works for you though, so you can be well enough to get down on the floor and play with McBaby.

I'm on a "modified" version of the Joel Fuhrman "Eat To Live" diet. It is pretty drastic but it works (for me).

MacBaby is a good reason to try. I hope you find something that works for you!!!

Leah looks so radiant!

It feels like Leah has been pregnant forever!! I know you just told us in December, but it feels like FOREVER!! It won't be long now before the baby pops out. I bet you are soooo excited about that! :)

Karma looks so pretty in her sunbeam. I love Leah's baby belly. I'm having tech trouble, too. I can use track changes for about an hour and then it stops and won't work again till the next day. It's irritating when I'm on an editing roll and have to stop. I also have trouble getting Florida Blue to take my health insurance payments. It's their fault, not mine, but they won't listen when I tell them that my bank says they are coding my payments incorrectly. I think they reject my payments so they can claim I don't make them. They are out to get Obamacare, which allows me to have insurance for the first time in years.

Love,
Janie

Technology can be a real pain. I hope everything works out for you and things settle down so you don't have these things to worry about.

Leah looks great. Hoping the rest of her pregnancy goes well and healthy McBaby arrives right on time. I'm sure Gramma Rita can hardly wait. :)

Good luck with the diet. I know I couldn't do it. I have some of the same issues as you, but those kinds of diets are too extreme for me. I wish you all the best, tho.

Dear Rita, a truly thought-provoking quotation by Phillips Brooks. Thanks for giving it to us to gnaw on.

As to that new eating plan. I wish you every success. I've never been on such a stringent eating plan but I have fasted for three days and that led to my potassium level falling and a blackout. All I'm saying is be sure and take care of yourself and please check your body's reactions to what's happening. The not drinking coffee after all these years would be such a strain on your body--I'd think. So I'm glad to learn that you are going to at least have a pot of it a day. I so hope your own hopes for this new eating plan give you much more comfort as you hold and play with your grandchild when McBaby is born. Peace.
