Saturday-2:45am

I've been sleeping all day and waking up in the evening. Before I went to bed it looked like this...just a dusting of snow...not even enough to cover all the brown grass...
...with a dark grey sky.
When I woke up tonight it looked about the same out there, so the snow didn't continue. It's the middle of the night...19 degrees...dark and quiet. I do enjoy the peacefulness of the night. Always have.
****
Karma says hi.
Notice how thick her fur is. Sits atop her collar like a ruff. She just wanted you to take note that she isn't quite as fat as she looks. ;)
****
When Dagan and Leah were here they dropped off these wire cube shelves. When I get back to cleaning and organizing after the holidays, I plan to use them in the corner of my bedroom...six high! One can never have too many shelves. ;)
And they brought my trusty old sewing machine...all oiled and cleaned...ready for some projects this winter. :)
I've been catching up online since I woke up last night. Now I will hopefully finish the Circle Letter and walk it down to the mailbox before morning. That's the top priority for today. Then I can go on to the next thing on my list...2012 birthday cards. There's always something waiting on my long list--LOL! ;)
****
I can usually breathe out of one nostril now--so I'm sleeping a little better. Best get busy here...the night is slipping by. Have a fabulous weekend! :)

Thanks for the snow picture. We got a very thin dusting which soon disappeared. How exciting to have your sewing machine back...I can't wait to see what you make. (SO many possibilities!
Have a great weekend.

Snow- how wonderful!!!! Organizing after the holidays always feels so good- like a fresh start to the year. Enjoy your shelves.

Wow - 19 degrees. How do you heat? We are back to the point where we don't need any heat - if it gets over 50 in the daytime, the house heats itself (sun wall). And it's staying in the high 30s at night - the day's heat can withstand that.

Tell Karma she looks just the right size! And that she is beautiful!

And shelves - you are so right - never to many. I have to floor to ceiling in both my bead room and office and another 1/2 in my office with 2 tables and a desk (you can't walk in my office right now because, despite all that shelf space, the floor is covered with books and paints...and presents for the grandkids! =])

I think the energy at night is calmer, cleaner. It clears the way for creativity and quieting our thought.

Love the NA prayer.

My hubby has always tried to stay on my schedule (I'm a morning person), but he stays up later and later at night and would eventually sleep all day and be awake all night. He loves the quiet of the nighttime, too.

I so enjoy finding how you cope with all your limitations, Rita, and realize that one can be interesting and productive even when housebound (or apartment bound). Our lives are so different but we share appreciation for each other. It's great! Glad you're better, BTW.

Love Karma! And all those mail goodies in the previous post...oooh! Thank you so much for your great comment to my 'ran away' post. Always great to see you stop by. I hope you're feeling better...

YAY for snow! We got some, but it didn't stay... The ground was too wet from recent rain, and then there was the fact that day ended up being one of the most sunny we've had recently. *Sigh* There's still hope though... It's still cold, and there's still a prediction of a decent snowfall soon...

Glad you can breath out of one nostril now. ;)

Hi Karma! :)

What a cool prayer. Oh and I LOVE this line: "She just wanted you to take note that she isn't quite as fat as she looks." LOL :0)

2012 birthday cards? Now?

Gwen--The snow is nearly gone again. :(
Leah and I both have some sewing projects in mind. I hope I remember how--LOL! ;)

Carolyn--Oh yes! Organizing any time feels good to me--LOL! ;)

Tammy--I'm not sure if it is hot water or electric, but it is baseboard heat. I'm on third floor and heat rises, so I can keep the thermostat on pretty low and it will stay pretty warm in here...unless the wind comes my direction. (Glad I face east!)
I'll tell her, but it might go to her head--LOL!
I have lots of bookcases--seven of them--and more of the wire cube shelves in the closet above the washer and dryer (to hold more art & craft stuff, of course). But the messes will still spread, yes. :)

Teresa--Yes! Calmer and cleaner! It always seemed less cluttered and peaceful--my best writing time has always been at night. ;)

Djan--Sounds like your hubby and I keep the same kind of hours. He's a round the clocker, too!
I know! We do have such different lives, but I admire you so for all the things you do and your gentle yet powerful spirit. *hugs!*

Theresa--LOL! I think Karma sleeps 80% of the day and night. Probably why she never cares what my hours are. ;)

Elena--I know! I haven't even gotten around to playing with the new goodies yet! Have other things on the top of the priority list...but soon!! ;)
Thanks. I'm always happy to see you stop by, too. :):)

Tori--Our snow is almost all gone already, too! Can you hear "White Christmas"?? LOL!

Elisa--Yes, it's the fur coat...the fur coat, I tell you! ;)
BTW, I keep thinking about your princess/castle story and the poopy diaper on the porch and just smile.

Hi Rita!

I could always use more shelves but my problem would be where to put them. lol

My goodness, Karma certainly does have thick fur.

Glad to hear you're sleeping a little better now despite swapping your days and nights around. I wish I could stay up late into the wee hours because of the peace and stillness while the rest of the household sleeps. However, I've always been a morning person and I don't think that's going to change. That said, I do enjoy the two to three hours of peace and quiet I have to myself when I get up around 4am.

Love that Native American prayer!

Enjoy your weekend,
Love,
Serena xo

Friko--Hey, I'm a mass producer, what can I say. And I need a couple right away in January. I make about 50 of them each year. ;)

Serena--I manage to squeeze a lot more into my crowded place than most people would think humanly possible--LOL! ;)
If you're a morning person, you're a morning person. I must say that getting up at 4am is so similar that I have grown to love that too. :):)
Have a good Sunday, my friend!

You must surely be one of the most organised people anywhere on this planet! Birthday cards for 2012 already?! I know that the night holds beautiful sights, but I need my sleep at night. Like a sparrow, I start to slump shortly after the sun sets. Tell Karma I never suspected she was fat beneath that gorgeous coat. Our dog, Bonny has an impressive coat, too and looks twice her actual size. When she's having her bath, she really looks rather skinny! I am going to be taking a few weeks off from blogging so I can fully enjoy the holiday season. I look forward to catching up with you and Karma in the new year. I wish you, Leah, Dagan and Karma a very Happy Christmas,! Big hug xoxo

I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas! just like the ones I used to know...
Where the treetops swaying,
and children playing...
To see idle shovels in a row.

I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be without a frown
And may all your Christmases be brown.

:) Karma is fluffy!

I can't wait to see your very first sewing project!

We've only had one dusting of snow here. It seems so strange to not have snow by now. They predicted a bad winter here but I am hoping they are wrong. So far, so good!

DavidShag said...

We are now getting your leftover weather, as always - snow dusting and 19 degrees (at night). It is long overdue really. I kind of love snow, if only because I feel so much less guilty - almost virtuous, in fact - lying around the house doing nothing. Although I'd give much if I had your gumption - I just can NOT make myself work on projects - I read, watch too much TV and play computer games; even my blogging has languished of late... Congrats on the open nostril by the way!

Jenny Woolf said...

Karma looks beautifully cosy, just what you need to sit on your lap when it's 19 degrees! Glad you have your sewing machine back.

I'm the opposite to you, I like to sleep at night and be up in the day, although when it is grey and dark and a thin dusting of snow, then indoors is definitely the best place to be! :)

I hope you are recovered soon.

Jenny Woolf said...

I meant fully recovered from not being able to breathe, oh that blocked up feeling always upsets me!

Rita said...

Desiree--Thank you so much and you have a wonderful holiday, too! See you after your break. (Karma is about 20 lbs but she looks like she weighs 30--LOL!)

Carol--Oh, you're welcome! Thank goodness I have many interests or I as a shut-in life could be very boring--LOL! I'm never bored. ;)

Laura--Every nook and cranny get utilized in my little corner of the world--LOL!
You may like it, but I don't think snow would be greeted gladly with most in Florida. ;)
Karma is a good cuddler--when she's in the mood. Otherwise, forget it! :)

Melynda--Greetings!! Yup! Life is too interesting to ever be dull!

Iggy--Bah! Humbug! But I can see your point about the shoveling--which I don't have to do anymore. ;)

Deanna--My first sewing project is going to be trying to make a journal or book cover. I'm inventing my own pattern, so I don't know how well that will work. Have to think it through first. Maybe I should google it! ;)
I know! It just feels wrong to have Christmas so close and no snow!! :( I'm not sure what they are predicting for us up here since I rarely watch the news. I'm confident I will find out eventually on my own--LOL! ;)

David--I'm a snow lover for the same kind of reason. Perfect for curling up and reading, writing, watching a movie...or for doing crafts or painting. Yup! Good reason to be inside having fun!
If I didn't have projects to do--well, when I don't feel well enough to do actual projects--I am doing much the same (reading, the tube, the laptop) and am also quite content. Hey, some people are the skiers and some are the chalet-ers. Even when I was healthy, I was always the latter. ;)
Thanks on the nostril, BTW. :)

oh my dear I'm so sorry I haven't been by for a while.

I really need to get your blog to go to my email. I can barely keep up there, making it to reader often just doesn't happen. : (

My sleep has been strange since the surgery. Usually asleep around 4am and awake around noon or 1pm.

I tried to take one of the sleepy pills the psych gave me, this week. It's supposed to take a few days to work...but that first one, knocked me silly, vertigo...so sleepy but every time I closed my eyes, more spinning. Then when I woke up in the afternoon, more spinning...I'm NEVER taking another one of those pills!

I don't care if I have weird sleeping hours.

I know you are used to snow, and should probably have plenty by now....but I hope I don't see it this year.
We usually have one good dusting, that lasts a few days...but last year, we had much more.
I really don't like the cold. REALLY don't like the cold.
Don't know how your OA and Fibro take it.

oh..Sandy is looking like Karma, she isn't overweight at all, but she has that roll of fluff all around the top of her sweater.
(she gets chilly)

good to see you are staying busy...you are amazing. 2012 Birthday cards! Wow.

wendy

Desiree said...

BRRRRRRRRRRRRR it is getting cold but gladly no snow for us, yet!

Hope the sewing machine creates something awesome soon! :)

19 degrees!!! Good weather for staying inside and organizing and working on birthday card. Of course sleeping would also be nice!

Rita said...

Jenny--Karma uses me as her heating pad when the weather gets cold, but we both benefit--LOL!
I know! I especially hate trying to sleep when you can't breathe decently. I wake up with a sore throat from breathing through my mouth. :(
Hope you have a great week. :)

Rita said...

Wendy--I think I have a place to sign up by email, don't I? I should check. I so seldom update anything on my blog--LOL!
Sleeping pills don't usually work for me anyways. Even prescription ones. I take them and am still wide awake for hours. *sigh* I don't like taking pills anyways. Like you, I sleep when I can, whenever I can. Right now it is not at night--LOL!
Karma is overweight, just not as much as it looks like--hehe! ;) She looks bigger than half the dogs in this building!
Sleep well! :)

Desi--I plan on getting the sewing machine out in January. I am very rusty--like ten years rusty--LOL! ;)

CarolC--Yup! Sleeping well again would be really nice. Did sleep unbelievably long yesterday--whoohoo! Was wonderful! ;)

Queenie Jeannie said...

Oh no! Your days & nights are swapped again!!! But...I suppose it's better to sleep, than to not! Karma is beautiful and I love seeing photos of her!!! So nice of Dagan to take of you so well!!!!

I hope you keep warm and feel better soon!

Rita said...

Jeannie--Yes, when I was sick and not sleeping well my hours went all over the place. And then I flip on my own anyways--LOL!
Glad you guys are back home. Great pictures, BTW! :)

AliceKay said...

Looks like you have some organizing projects planned for the new year. :)

I've had something sinus related for weeks, so I'm pretty sure it's not a cold but some kind of allergy again. Go to bed stuffed up on one side but wake up the next morning stuffed up on the other side. Makes no sense. I was using tap water in my netipot for my nasal rinses until I read online the other day where people have died from those brain eating amoebas that can come from using tap water. From now on, I'll use water that has been boiled and cooled...and then warmed back up in the microwave.

Wonderful Native American prayer.

Rita said...

AliceKay--Plans! Always have plans, baby! LOL! ;)
Good idea about boiling the water for the neti pot. You know, I have one of those around someplace. I couldn't handle the ickiness of the sensation. If I ever run across it and want to give it another go--I'll boil the water.
My head is doing the same kind of things. Just hasn't seemed to want to clear up. Most of the time I have one working nostril--LOL! I wish you a calm and healthy holidays and coming year! :)

Dee Ready said...

Dear Rita,
I so liked the Native American quotation today. I do feel that unseen blessings are on their way to me.

And I'm glad you are feeling somewhat better--that you can breathe out of one nostril! Also, that you have the cube shelves and the sewing machine. I am going to try in the new year to follow your lead and devote my days to what pleases me most--writing.

You produce beauty. I produce words. For both of us this is entirely satisfying.

Peace.

Rita said...

Dee--I know! Very positive saying. :)
I'm glad you will be writing more. I should do a little more of that, too, in 2012. Even if I just tell more stories on the blog. ;)
Peace to you, too.
