Jumble of Jibber Jabber
****
Pictures to catch up on, too. :)
Cloudy morning yesterday.
I guess this is what they mean by the crack of dawn?
As you have gathered by now, it doesn't take much to make me smile, giggle, or laugh. This forgotten desk chair sat outside all day a couple days ago. Long hard gusts of wind made the chair do this crazy rapid-fire rocking and I could just imagine an nervous foot-jiggling ghost sitting right there in the yard hunched over its invisible computer desk. Yup! Doesn't take much to make me smile.
Karma dozing in the morning rays by the porch door and her box of toys. Needed the sunshine, like today, because it's been cold. It's only 19 degrees right now.
Which has been too much for the dying tulips on the porch...
...and the cat grass--which fell over in shock.
So I cut it all off...
...and dried it on the kitchen counter for a couple of days so Leah and I can use it later in making handmade paper.
The fish tank is crystal clear and everybody is happy.
Yesterday the orders started arriving! Dick Blick was one of the two bigger ones! I got lots of things for my future mixed media journaling attempt to "loosen up" adventure, as all my art teachers told me to do. I've stuck my toe in with my smaller handmade art journal, as you know. Not quite as nerve wracking as I thought it would be...says the partially OCD girl who's struck blank by the huge new Visual Journals--LOL! ;)
Anyways, I got three small tubes of Rub 'n Buff: antique gold, ebony black, and gold leaf.
A set of Sharpie oil-based paint markers: black, red, white, silver, and gold.
The "bright" set of DecoColor acrylic markers: aubergine, violet, pink, and yellow. Plus the separate white and black markers.
A set of four Susan Sheewe wax resist sticks (crayons).
China markers: white and black.
And last but not least--Blick brand liquid watercolors!
I got the set of ten: yellow, orange, red, magenta, violet, blue, turquoise, green, black, and brown. (8 ounce bottles!!)
Also got the separate bottles of metallic watercolors: pearl, pirate gold, silver, gold, copper, and antique gold.
Don't they look impressive all together!
I figured I already use watercolors the most, so these will never go to waste. I do have an assortment of acrylic tube paint and a few small bottles of liquid acrylics--so I am good to go!

The Amazon order came, too.
Melynda's book...
...and two more bottle of Swanson's triple strength melatonin!
Oh, and the postage stamps came Monday. :)

Okay, I took a couple days off from reading blogs over the weekend--but when I went to read and make comments Sunday night Blogger wouldn't let me post them. After trying three different times on three different blogs, I decided to wait till Monday.
****
Monday--same thing! So, I spent the last couple days reading blogs. I am all caught up but, if you missed my few words, I couldn't comment on any of your Blogger blogs. :(
****
Now, I figured that this might be because I haven't switched over to the new format, but after writing those last two posts about Canada (they took me a long time to write) I wasn't up to dealing with switching to the new Blogger. And I didn't want to do it this morning because I knew I had a lot of pictures to post. Early this afternoon I have the dentist (if I make it--taking my chances again). But I plan to switch over as soon as I can to see if that works so I can post comments on your blogs again. I will just pick up with the current posts, just so you know, when I can finally comment again...but I have been reading everything. :) I hope I don't have to deal with contacting Blogger over this and switching to the new format will do it--sigh! Well, it's free. What can you say.
****
Just to add to the Canada story: I had all my "stuff" packed to go back with me on the plane in cardboard apple boxes from the grocery store that were duct-taped shut. Believe it or not, they never even opened them. Must have looked honest and trustworthy when I was telling them about running away and that I had my iron, colander, pots and pans, silverware, towels, cleaning supplies, bonnet hairdryer...and continued to list every single thing I could think of that was inside of those boxes. Hey, they asked. ;)
****
Anita and I never gave it a thought as we rolled our own cigarettes (cheaper than buying a pack) on the plane back to Minneapolis...until we noticed passengers staring at us. This was back in the days you could smoke almost anywhere--planes, grocery stores, movie theaters. We realized they thought we were rolling joints...another giggle fit. Then they thought we were high! Adding fuel to our poorly supressed laughter.
****
I have to say that no matter what is going on I can usually find some humorous aspect. This quality can either be annoying or mystifying to some people. But if I can't smile or laugh--even sarcastically--I know I am in deep do-do or somebody I love is--or it is time to dig deep down to find out what's really bothering me.
****
Well, wish me luck with making it to the dentist. Hasn't been the best morning, but that's nothing unusual...and why I try to schedule appointments for the afternoon just for odds sake--LOL! Regardless, it is a sunny morning. I am still on days--yay!! I found the perfect sized box to fit all the new watercolor bottles. Love my new cast iron frying pan...and being able to sip on some french vanilla coffee every day. Ahhhh! Hope you are enjoying your day, too. :):)

I think I may have posted this quote before, but I have always loved it. ;)

First... SOMEBODY SAID SHARPIES. Did somebody mention sharpies. You know SHARPIES are addictive. WHERE are my sharpies. Sharpies!!!!
Anyhoo, life was very different than it was just a few years ago. Smoking, hitchhiking, packing, travelling and everything. It was a much freer country everywhere. Until we started paying attention to crime. Crime just ruins about everything.
I love your attitude of having to find something to smile about :)
Smile on!!
hope the dentist goes well again. and brrr! 19 degrees!
What an enticing lot of art materials. You must be itching to use them all! I hope you make it to the dentist okay.
Now get busy gal and start using your new art stuff.
I hope the dental visit goes well.
I am loving all of your art stuff, and you rolling cigarettes made me smile, although I am not a smoker myself.
I am missing Canada so much. It is the most beautiful place on earth to me.
Oh, and I have to go into hospital for dental treatment next Thursday, so wish me luck!
Wow... all that stuff comes in... does it ever go out? :)
Will you be 'the' Dick Blick and Goudet's outlet store in Fargo?
I can imagine the reaction to a couple "chicks" rolling smokes on an ariplane... (I am so glad they don't permit smoking anymore!)
If when you sign into your blog you tick the 'keep me signed in' box, then from experience, you cannot leave comments...that happened once to me.
Interestng lot of stuff you got there...for wax resist I use candles:):)
Keep smiling!
xxx
I'm with you, Rita--finding something to smile about is important!
It rained hard here last night, so today I get to do one of my favorite "make me smile" things--when it rains hard, a BIG puddle forms near Jenny's school. I always drive right thru the middle of it and make a big splash. Sometimes I even go around the block and do it again! Always makes me smile!
Wow! That IS a huge temperature difference. Brrr! I had the same problem a week or so ago: Blogger wouldn't let me leave a comment. It healed up eventually, though.
I still haven't read the rest of your story, so I'm heading back to the last post once this comment is done. :-)
I was giggling at the ghost chair in the photo and noticed the white car has a front bumper issue.
I have had trouble making the comment boxes pop up to comment on blogs but I hit F5 over and over to refresh the page and it would finally appear. Stupid Blogger.
I refuse to change to the new format unless they force me to.
Fish tank looks great!
I hate going to the dentist.
That's a great shot of the "crack of dawn". Love it!
We had rain/snow/sleet showers on and off all afternoon today. The meteorologist on the local tv station tonight said it's called graupel. (i have pics of some graupel...lol)
You have quite a stash of goodies there. That should keep you busy for quite some time. lol
I haven't switched to the new Blogger format yet, and I won't until I'm forced to. I've been able to leave comments on the blogs I read. Hmm...
I hope the visit to the dentist went well today and that you're recuperating tonight.
I've seen that quote a lot lately, and it certainly is true.
Yes this was a jumble of jibber jabber but what a great lot of jibber jabber, I love sharpies who doesn't like sharpies people who have no idea what sharpies are thats who............
My dog DC likes to lay by front door or a morning to catch the morning rays.
It is hard to remember the days when people could smoke wherever they wanted to even on a plane but it would have been cool people thinking you were rolling a joint.........
I hope you made it to the dentist OK!
Ohmygosh, what a great box of goodies!! I have no clue what most of it is used for and now I'm SO curious!!! You always find the coolest stuff!
I've found that when trying to leave comments on blogs, I often have to hit "refresh" to get the comment box to open up. Sometimes a couple of times. There are one or two blog that won't work for, but for most it will. I think having Firefox for a browser is the most Blogger user friendly. Internet Explorer seems to be the worst. I haven't been getting many comments and it's been dwindling lately. I thought people were just getting bored of me and my drivel, lol!
I hope you have a great day!
Hope switching fixes your commenting issue!
Hope you made it to the dentist and it went well (well, as well as is possible).
And, LOL about the cigarette thing; just another example of assumptions being made before people have the facts. ;)
Have fun with all your new art supplies! :)
Your quote my dear...very true.
Very,Very true.
I hope I've made some people in this world happy.
someone asked me about someone in my family today and I got a bad feeling in my stomach....as the quote said,
you never forget how someone makes you feel.
have fun creating!!
w
love that picture of dozing karma!
and LOVE all the new art stuff!
sharpies are the best! but i have to say...i didn't know they had acrylic sharpies!! will have to look for them!
now...WHERE to put all the NEW stuff!
your fish tank looks GREAT!
you made me laugh with your 'roll the cigarette' memory...i had similar experiences...back then...and i've always had a 'nervous laugh'...laughing for no reason at all...people used to think i was always stoned...well...back then...maybe they were right...some of the time...uh,,,most of the time...
