Friday-6:15am

Believe it or not that long strip of plastic shower curtain liner is still the A-1 preferred toy around here. I usually wake up and find that Karma has pulled it all into a pile like this. It is covered with tiny pin holes from her attacking teeth. (She has no claws.)
I have to re-lay it across the room a couple times a day. Karma can still imagine it is alive and will suddenly leap into the air--pawing and batting at it like a crazy person. I was thinking that I might have to cut a chunk of it into thin strips and make an actual cat toy that I can attach to the end of the string on her cat pole. But then--that may not interest her at all. ROFL! ;)

Dagan and Leah came over Tuesday night. Leah brought me some Ziploc containers with dividers that I plan to use to see if I can make up my own frozen meals.
I did make up some quiche using "fake" (soy) hotdogs and have made up some frozen dinners with that--and some green beans and corn to fill the other spots. Haven't tried to heat one up yet. Some leftovers to finish first in the frig. ;)
I have been cooking and baking lately. Here's what's left of some sweet cornbread I made a few days ago.
Dagan worked on his miniatures. Leah made a wedding card and played with some of the oriental stamps a bit. We were all tired, but it was a really nice evening, as usual. Now, hopefully, Leah and I will be shopping next Tuesday night. ;)
****
I think finding my goal list did help motivate me. (I should have it out where I can see it more often--hehe!) I began cutting the paper for 50 birthday cards and at least started that project.
I think I am finally deleted from facebook! When Leah was here I had her look and try to locate me on facebook. No luck at all. Tada! If you want to delete your facebook account forever go here. Thanks so much for the link, Iggy!! I hope it worked for you, too? :):)

I hadn't been sleeping well for a while. Finally just plain collapsed and slept from 2pm till 1am! Whew! I needed it. Felt great! :)

Have been taking a trip thru some of my recent past. Been reading my "Angel Books"--journaling in spiral notebooks directed towards GA/angels/higher self that I had kept from 1993 to about 2006. Never daily or like a diary, per say. And entries have become much more erratic once I moved up here to go to college in 1999. It's a strange, frustrating, and enlightening thing to see yourself from a distance. An odd feeling to know how things turned out as I'm reading about my confusion, questions, and hopes as my health deteriorated. I'm on book 31 out of 38.
****
I still don't know what my purpose is.
****
Maybe I'll finish them today.
****
Anywho...supposed to be in the 60s again today and then back into the 40s for a couple days. Nature's temperature see-saw game--hehe! Have a great weekend!! :)

Its always fun to hear about Karma's latest antics! How did you manage to get her claws out? It is very very very difficult to find anywhere that would declaw a cat nowdays. If I got another cat in the future that might be something I'd like to consider... if given the chance.

Isn't it nice to get a bit motivated again? I go through slumps, and then get a second wind and get organized.

Your idea of freezing dinners is a good one. I've been baking more lately, too. I think it is because of the cold weather that keeps lingering. The sun is out for the first time in a very long time. Am going to head out and enjoy it!

Karma and that shower curtain is funny. Silly cat!

Your corn bread looks yummy!! I love corn bread.

I got an old shower curtain.. Umm... I was just going to throw it out when I got around to hanging the new one up...but seeing how Karma enjoys her's so much...

Nice to be able to recycle huh? LOL!

I have a small stack of freezer safe tubs that I use when I want to make some meals for myself. I did have loads more, but... Not sure what happened to them. It doesn't matter; I still have a decent stack of them. Anyway, hope your new containers work out for you! :)

Glad you managed to make a start on some of the projects on your list! :)

Very good quote for this post... I think it fits it well! :)

P.S. I think you're right; if you make the shower curtain thing in to an actual cat toy, it will lose its appeal.

Nikki--It's not difficult in the upper midwest to get cats declawed. Karma had the newest way--by laser! The only other cat I ever had declawed (didn't think I'd ever do that, to be honest--but now I will always have a declawed cat since mine never go outside anyways) was the one I owned before Karma. Back then they cut them out and there were stitches and a long recovery time, poor baby. I only did the front claws on that cat, but it made life soooo wonderful! No spray bottles of water and chasing them off of using my bookcases as scratching posts, etc. No arguments over the scratching. No furniture or woodwork or books ruined. Heavenly!

When I got Karma I had the laser method. (I can't remember if they have to be 4 or 6 months old, but I waited and had her fixed at the same time so it was a one shot deal for her.) More expensive but no comparison whatsoever. They have to keep them for several days just to keep them from jumping and racing about because they feel so good! I had all four paws done (because I remembered what the other cat could do with her back feet--tore up the bottom of my box spring scooting around on her back under the bed, could still kick the sh*t out of anything she could grab her paws around) and you would have never known it! Karma acted like nothing had happened. No limping around for a week or anything. Awesome! I'd never do it any other way again.

I wonder why vets don't want to declaw in your neck of the woods? That is strange.

Deanna--I know! I always seemed to go thru cycles of creative ambition even before I got fibro. Now they're just longer cycles and often my brain or my will have nothing to do with what my body will allow--ROFL!

Yes, I think the lingering cooler weather keeps me baking, too--while you don't mind having the oven on--hehe!

Iggy--I love corn bread, too! I often add eggs and some sugar or honey to sweeten it up and help it hold together better.
Yup! Talk about recycling! Is your old shower curtain shiny and crinkly and makes noises? If it does--I'm sure Karma would love you to cut off a big wide strip of it for her before you throw it out. Well, I'm not SURE. I'm never sure what she'll like or not like. LOL! ;)

Tori--Those plastic containers get stained and yucky when they are used over and over to heat in the microwave anyways. I had some years ago--a different style than these new ones--used them till they were too gross and I threw them out.
These are deeper which on the one hand is nice but, on the other hand, they take up a lot more room in the freezer. Be worth it if I can get used to using them again, tho. Has to be healthier to make your own. :)

I saw this post last night as I went to comment on your other post but somehow I never came back to this one to read it or comment. Sorry...it's been a long week.

Yep, I'm with you and Tori. If you made an actual toy out of the old shower curtain, Karma probably wouldn't like it as much and would lose interest. It's cute how she likes "playing" with it.

I love cornbread, too. :p

Sounds like you've had a pretty busy week. I hope you have a nice weekend.

The greatest cat discovery of all time in our household were trimmed strips of pet-proof screening from when I'd, through necessity, replaced the very not-pet-proof screening in the windows. I can attest that stuff holds up - it was tested way above and beyond any product standards on earth and there was never so much as a snag!

AliceKay--I know! If I went to the trouble of making a cat toy she'd probably be bored with it--ROFL! ;)
Cornbread lovers unite! :)

Tatty--Isn't it funny how some screen scraps can hold their interest and yet you can buy a toy you think they'll like and they will walk by with zero interest. Just like kids who prefer to play with pots and pans and old boxes and ignore the toys grandma bought them--ROFL! ;)

Toriz said...

Yeah, that's true! (about the fact the containers get yucky after a bit anyway). When you put it like that, it's not such a big deal that some of ours have disappeared. ;)

Toriz said...

And, yes... Always healthier to make your own really!

Rita said...

Tori--yup--the containers do get pretty yucky after while. I just made up five more frozen dinners. I am liking this. I forgot how easy it is to make your own. :)

Glad you're enjoying making your own dinners. :)

Hi! I was wondering where you got those Ziploc containers in NZ :) Cheers!
