Wednesday-9am

We've had some pretty sky days, but still too hot and humid to open up the apartment.  Been up close to 90 degrees every day.  Expected to be in the low 90s the next five days, too, with thunderstorms possible every day but Saturday.
The days have been flying by.  I hadn't realized it had been so long since I posted.  First I found some color charts to print off--I think they were on the Tim Holtz site--for various inks and such.
You know you've been crafting a long time when some of the ink pads you have aren't even listed on the official chart--LOL!  I started sticking things on the side margins.
Had some old Stickles, too.
I only had one actual alcohol ink from the chart.  My sets are so old, I guess.  If something was close, say had half of the new name, I put it in that square--LOL!
I do have a few distress inks and all the names were still listed.  Funny how this color chart project took up a whole day.
Karma has been begging to go out...
...repeatedly...
...so she can graze...
...on her cat grass.
Between begging to go out to eat grass and begging for the string toy with the Lindt chocolate wrapper she's been driving me nuts!
I did get a couple layers of wash on a page spread in the WC Visual Journal a while back, but never got any farther yet.
So what else have I been doing...
...these past few days?
Cleaning and organizing in the linen closet (notice some of the pretty boxes and the covers in there)...
...and the bathroom (a couple more boxes).  I also went through a couple of the drawers in the little dresser in the bathroom and part of the medicine cabinet.
Some of you may wonder why I would use the pretty boxes in closets and drawers--well, it's kind of like wearing pretty underwear.  Nobody else will see it, but you know. ;)
****
I still have more to do in there.  Under the sink, finish the medicine cabinet, and more purging.  You know how you can keep things way too long?  Well, I had a face mask that sounded like rocks when I shook the bottle--ROFL!!  But after a couple days of cleaning in there I need a break.
****
Now my desk is full of paint bottles, misters, gesso and mediums.  Most of this will find a brand new home in the new wall shelf unit...
...which arrived yesterday!!  I was surprised because the first expected day was supposed to be Thursday.  Two days early--whoohoo!  I was delighted because I won't be home a lot of Thursday because I have an appointment with my rheumatologist.
So, today--Caroline comes to clean this afternoon and then Dagan and Leah will stop by briefly after work to unpack the shelving unit so Leah can check it out and see if she needs anything extra to mount it on the wall.  Just so she knows what she needs when they come to assemble and install it later on.
****
Tomorrow--another senior bus trip, if all goes well (IBS).  I'm not eating today or tomorrow until I get home, but I'm not planning on taking any anti-diarrhea pills.  So, hopefully I will be okay to go.  It worked for the dentist last time.  ;)  If not--I'll just have to reschedule.  It's only a check-in type appointment.  Nothing new is happening, but I haven't been for a couple years.
****
Meanwhile--I probably won't get much puttering done today.  Have to pace myself.  I have letters I owe, so I could maybe work on some on those before Caroline arrives if my shoulders and back are feeling cooperative--LOL!  I'm just amazed at how quickly the days fly by sometimes.  I've kept it closed up so it's cooler and not humid in here--felt better lately and have been able to get some of the cleaning and organizing done.  Nice!!  So that's what I've been up to.  :)
****
And Karma is crying by the bookcase for her string toy...again.  Really?  This goes on all day long.  Three or four sessions a day is plenty.  She's like a toddler who could do the same thing endlessly for hours.  When she's too tired to chase it anymore she thinks I should just entertain her with it while she lies there.  Right.
****
Cats pretend not to understand "no" when it's not to their liking.  Two can play at that game.  I can pretend I don't understand cat...no matter how loud she pleads.  ROFL!  ;)
****
Have a super day!!  :):)

Dear Rita, aren't those lovely potching days relaxing and soothing? "Potching" is a word used here in Missouri to mean days when one simply moves from one thing to another with no rhyme or reason, just going with the flow, letting the day move you where it will.

Your potching days sound like mine--just doing a little of this, a little of that, with respites for the cats!

Peace.

I know what you mean about pretty boxes nobody sees but you. Just makes you feel better... Glad to hear it's because you were so busy that you didn't post, not because you weren't feeling well. That's the best reason for missing! :-)

Gotta love that cat!! I think she knows who is boss in your house. lol
I have cleaning lots of drawers, etc. too.

Oh Rita, you can come to my house and organise it! Bring Karma - I'd love to meet her! :)

Think I sound stupid but I don't know what distress inks are. Maybe you can explain in another post.

I do hate humidity but those skies look beautiful, what I think of as a "fair sky".

I love your paper. It reminds me of when we used to do marbling, but it also reminded me of the sky for some odd reason!
Good to see that you are keeping yourself busy...and O.M.G., I just love that vintage typewriter!
I have a sewing machine that is over a hundred years old, but I can't get it to work :(

Hugs to you and Karma.

Pssssst! Karma! Settle down and give Mommy a break. Rita, I like pretty, organized closets, too. I don't care if I'm the only one to see them. I was wondering about the shelves over your toilet, though. I'd be afraid of knocking something into the bowl. I'm a little clumsy sometimes.

Love,
Janie

I have just a handful of ink pads, maybe half a dozen. You have quite a collection even if some of the names have fallen off the chart.

Gotta love cats, independent and demanding at the same time.

I totally get the pretty boxes in cupboards thing...you see them there and they make your day a little brighter and that's what counts.

Colour charts are a good idea. I like doing colour swatches from watercolour paints and my Derwent inktense pencils because, in some cases, the colour isn't always as it appears to be.

I hope all goes well for your Rheumatologist appointment tomorrow and that the dreaded IBS behaves itself.

It sounds like you've had a busy few days between organising and Karma's demands. lol

Have a lovely evening,

Love and hugs,
Serena xo

I could use your reorganizing skills at my place, too. Looking good. I hope putting your shelves up on your shelf goes well. I'm still curious as to how Leah plans on putting it up there. (will stay tuned....lol)

It's been a nice summer day here today...not too hot yet, but it's heading that way again. This weekend is supposed to be hazy, hot, and humid with chances of more thunderstorms. We had a rain shower yesterday that hit out of the blue. Karen had brought Ryan over for a visit and he wanted to play on the swingset. Not long after he started jumping and swinging, it started to sprinkle. not long after, it was pouring. We need the rain so will take what we can get as long as it's not flooding rains.

Good luck with your trip to the rheumatologist. I'm hoping it goes as well as your trip to the dentist. :)

Karma is a very smart cat. I bet she wins out at that game more often than not. ;)

You've been up to all sorts of puttery things - that's about all most of us can manage with continued heat like you guys back east are having. Here in Seattle we're finally getting several days of sun in a row and it might hit about 80 today. We're thrilled! Thanks for the visit.

Low 90s? Can I trade you? You can have my 105 and I'll take your 90. How does that sound? NO??? I can't understand why not.

You have been busy but chasing Karma doesn't count, does it? I was surprised you keep her cat grass outside. I wish I'd planted Bleubeard's in the house. I have no idea why I didn't after the hail storm demolished it.

I can't wait to see that shelf unit. I bet it will be perfect for you.

I only have a few AIs. They came in a starter pack a friend sent me one year (can't even remember how long ago, but thankfully they never dry out). I'm not an inkpad kind of gal, but I love my reinkers. I use them all the time. I even have some of Tim's (or maybe it's Rangers').

Have a great trip and a successful Dr. visit. Let us know how it goes.

I keep forgetting to ask. May I put your blog on my left sidebar? If it's OK, just leave me a comment one of these days, since my e-mail is not working properly.

Too cute with Karma! I always say Koda needs his own 24/7 caretaker, he's so high maintenance, wants in, wants out, wants up, wants down, etc. Glad the weather cooled off a bit! Hope you can make the trip tomorrow, it does sound like it could be fun. I wonder what that cat grass tastes like? Karma does seem to enjoy it!

One can never ignore a cat. Not for long, anyway. They've got that covered in so many ways. Karma is such a cutie.

That's OK, you not posting much over the past week gave me a few less posts I needed to catch up on reading, LOL!

Will there be anything left for Caroline to clean? LOL!

Good luck ignoring Karma!

You really are getting organized! I know what you mean about accumulating stuff and just have to purge at some point. Can't wait to see what that shelf looks like when it is installed and full of all of your goodies.

Good luck with your outing!

Karma doesn't help you get the organizing and cleaning done? Well, I must say even my kids didn't help too much with that when they were younger...that is one great thing about them getting older- they are so much help compared to their little ones days...Have a great day!

Wow! Super organised or what!!

Yes, I've been down the time-eating colour chart road as well. It became an obsession, with me thinking that I can't possibly paint without having all my colours laid out before me on a chart. Guess waht? It had the opposite effect once they were completed. I choose the least amount of colours on my palette, and then end up mixing my own! There are tubes of paint in my drawers from the 60's (and earlier!). At least with watercolour they never really go "off". Some have been handed down to me as they were too "recious" too use by their previous owners. I used to have that attitude too - I could only really use the expensive works on well thought out, planned major art works. You can guess what happened. Some paints just died in the tubes (oils and acrylics). All those expensive paints never saw the light of day. Same for good plates, cutery, linen etc. Life is too short. Now I use the good stuff first, and giveaway the second rate stuff to kids to use. It's been liberating!

I think I've rambled on enough here...LOVE your underwear analogy!

"Hi" to Karma!

That's a great idea to have the color charts so you know what each of the colors looks like when they dry. Looks like you're doing a lot of organizing as well during these hot days.

Perhaps the hot weather is a blessing in disguise...gives us a chance to finish the indoor projects that we've wanted to get done without the distraction of wanting to be outdoors.

Nonetheless, opening the windows and doors will feel good again, won't it?
