Thursday-9:45am

The last couple days have been dark up here.
This was two in the afternoon yesterday...
...and this is what it looks like this morning.
But I am happy as a clam!  I have groceries coming this afternoon and there was an additional surprise last night when Dagan and Leah came over.
****
A few months ago I had been discussing with Leah that eventually I needed to buy a new set of cookware and was fed up to the gills with non-stick varieties and needed to find something stainless steel.  (Leah is very against non-stick.)  I couldn't afford the awesome cookware that Dagan and Leah bought when they were first together and made payments on for like two years--that will last a lifetime, though.  Leah said she had found a set at Target with Ariel in mind (but Ariel went with another cheaper set) that was stainless steel, tri-layered bottoms with aluminum, and no rivets inside (a pet peeve of Leah's).  Cool!  I'd have to check into saving up for them maybe next year.
****
Well, Leah called me from Target on Monday night because that cookware set was on sale.  If they got it for me I could just make them payments--whoohoo!!  And there was a larger, deep frying pan and a bigger stock pot available, too (which are the other pieces I knew I would need eventually)--but that was too much for them to foot the bill for all at once, of course.  Anyways, that's why I was so excited!  New cookware!!
****
This is what my non-stick Calphalon pan looks like from boiling water in it for several years.  Awk!!
And I am careful with my pots and pans, too!
Well, Dagan arrived first last night with the box--whoohoo!
Then he said he had to go back down for the rest.
****
The rest?!
****
Yes!  They picked up the bigger stock pot and frying pan for me!!!  Also on sale, so it saved me a chunk of money on those, too!!
Here's all the pans...
...and the two stock pots!
They are Giada DeLaurentiis (a chef from a cooking show, I guess).  I had to try something out after Dagan and Leah left last night, of course.  Fried a couple eggs in the tiny frying pan and they slide right out of the pan!  Awesome!  I saw online that some people complained about everything sticking to them but other people loved them, so I'm thinking the ones who hated them are probably people who have never used anything but non-stick.  We'll see how the rest of these work in practice, but I am thrilled!
****
Obviously!
****
I couldn't wait to show you!!  :)

Speaking of going out of your way to make someone else's life easier or better...ROFL!  For those of you who were looking for a Karma appearance yesterday...
...this was Karma on our last sunny morning...
...a couple of days ago...
...soaking up some rays...
...and not really in the mood...
 ...to do her usual stretching...
...and posing for the camera.
She was just too warm and comfortable.
So I left her watching hopefully for swallows (but I haven't seen any for a while).
Doctor appointment tomorrow.
Get my blood pressure checked...and God only knows what else he'll try to talk me into after nine years--LOL!  Anywho--my mostly unprocessed food order will be here between noon and 2pm so I had best get dressed and moving.  :) :)

You are truly blessed with wonderful "kids". The new cookware looks splendid!! :)

Karma is included in the "kids" - but that part of the statement might not stand up to a Vulcan Mind Meld. :)

I Love getting new pots and pans.... I've been switching out all of my nonstick over the last couple of year. My old ones were still in good shape I just decided that they were unsafe for me to use. I love my stainless and the couple of ceramics that I have purchased. I was lucky to get some great heavy duty stockpots at a moving sale for for almost nothing :) I was doing a happy dance all the way to my car !!!!!

Nice pots and pans. You'll enjoy them, I know. Why is Leah opposed to rivets? Just curious.

Love,
Janie

You deserve it, dear Rita. And thank you for the pictures of Karma, looking regal and totally above the fray. :-)

Love my stainless for high-heat cooking. But I still use my Emeril non-stick for eggs, and meats I finish off in the oven. Just suggesting you hold on to a few non-stick pieces until you find what works best for what. One thing's for sure, stainless is soooooo pretty! :)

I am interested in the long range use of that stainless...so keep us informed. Yes she is a good cook! I have a set of stainless That is about 42 years old, but do like nonstick for somethings...like eggs..:) I also have a set of Cast Ion..and I don't like to cook very much. Gloomy days for sure, spitting rain here:(

Getting cookware is sort of like getting a new canvas or opening a new-to-you book. Such a rush of wonderful feelings, isn't it?

You've gotten some great stuff!

I also think Karma and my kitty, Alice, would get along well. I should post more Alice photos on my blog. I think she would make everyone smile!

Brilliant cookware. Dagan and Leah are lovely people.

I have some very expensive stainless steel pots and pans too, had them for years. And several cast iron pots and pans. All beautiful and a pleasure to cook with, but I find they are getting very heavy for my wrists, particularly when full.

Karma looks very happy, she makes me feel like curling up next to her in the sunshine.

Gosh I need new ones too. believe it or not, I have old OLD aluminum ones (I guess)that mother and daddy got when they were first married. I have a frying pan, a 2 qt. pot, a larger pot with a long handle (the little guy has a small handle on either side like ears. I have a small little pot with a longer handle that may hold a pint but I never use it. It's much lighter. I even have daddy's fork, aluminum with a wooden riveted on handle to it. I never use that either. I just love that I have it.

So nice to see Miss Karma. What wonderful cookware! Such a treat and a surprise to boot. That non-stick stuff takes a bit of getting used to but once you have it down pat, no problem.

Very nice set of pots and pans. You have great kids. :)

I haven't seen any swallows in awhile either. They must have flown south.
