Tuesday-11:30am

Once that cat grass starts to sprout it really goes to town. This was yesterday. I had been keeping it up on the little metal table to help it get more light.
It was a beautiful cooler night last night so I left the porch door and my bedroom window open. (One of the advantages of living on third floor.) This morning I noticed Miss Karma must have felt the grass was ripe and ready, because she had been up on the table pulling some of the grass out by the roots--hehe! Probably a little awkward trying to chew it up there. So I moved it down into the sunshine. This is what it looked like this morning--less than 24 hours later (took the other shot in the afternoon). Wow! No wonder it is hard to keep up with mowing the yard--hehe!
Karma immediately started chowing down.
Well, the DVD player decided to work yesterday. I swear that I didn't do anything different. Just must be temperamental, right? Certainly couldn't be anything I am doing wrong--hehe! ;)
****
The movie I watched was called Unthinkable.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0914863/
****
I have no idea why copying and pasting links doesn't seem to always work anymore since I changed the look of my blog--so this is what Netflix says about it.
****
When the government gets wind of a plot to destroy America involving a trio of nuclear weapons, locations unknown, it's up to a seasoned interrogator (Samuel L. Jackson) and an FBI agent (Carrie-Anne Moss) to find out exactly where they are. A suspected terrorist who's already in custody is their only chance for a timely answer. But what will it take to get him to talk? Michael Sheen, Brandon Routh and Martin Donovan co-star.
****
Very violent and depressing movie. I like Samuel L. Jackson, but this movie was hard to take. Showed the very darkest side of both sides of the terrorist issue. I'm not sure if they were trying to promote violent, inhumane torture of terrorists or not. Just proved to me that nobody wins if we become like them--and you can't tell them apart. Innocent people are always hurt in the crossfire. Let me just say, I was glad I had watched it earlier in the day so I could get me in some comedies last night. If that makes me an ostrich, so be it.
****
Made me think about love, tho. How we need more movies and promotion about loving humanity and less violence. I've always thought that if there ever was a nuclear war (we grew up trained to hide under our desks, so we did think about it in grade school) I hoped I'd be killed outright. But I always figured that, with my luck, I'd survive--and have to deal with all the insanity and fear of a crazed populace. *sigh*
****
I've never had a fear of death, I guess. 98% of the time all my days I have been ready to go without regret. Had my near death experiences when I was a kid, my one out-of-body experience when Dagan was an infant...no fear of death. Pain, yes--hehe! But not death. So, I have no fear of being killed in the crossfire of wars or fanatics. The greater fear for me would be surviving...and my soul being put to the test. Because we all have that earth-animal inside of us who wants to survive, to protect our young/loved ones...and I pray that I wouldn't burden my soul, you know? The true tests of our soul do not come when times are easy.
****
That's why that movie made me so sad. To see what those people, both sides, were taking onto their souls, you know? And knowing that people are choosing to do this--for real--every day--all over the earth. We can make our excuses...tell ourselves we have reason...believe we are in the right...that our vengeance is righteous...God is on our side.....
****
I wish humanity was as dedicated to love as they so often are to hate. We can hate so broadly, but love so narrowly.
****
I wanted a quote about love for today. This one made me think of the old saying--use it or lose it--hehe!
****
May you love broadly!! :):)

Wow, I was surprised at how fast that cat grass grew. You must have had ideal conditions. Karma looks happy to have some to munch on again.

I watched one of the trailers for the movie. It looks pretty violent and scary. I hope the world as we know it never comes to that, but with the way things are going, I don't know how we'll be able to escape it.

My favorite movies are romantic comedies, but I like a good thriller...as long as it isn't a gory horror movie.

I hope you're having a good day today.

it's also like that movie with Will Smith in it where the grass and trees are taking over New York because it's been bombed out - don't remember the name of it.

It finally took my comment, so maybe the glitch is fixed now.

Robert Heinlein... was an inspired choice for a quote.

I grok the fullness... :)

I hope the narcs don't crash your door down getting to that weed...

I think Artisan means "I Am Legend".

Holy moly that grass sure does grow fast I really need to check the pet store and see if they have anything like that and see if my cat would like it. I don't think I have ever heard of the movie you watched, but I sure do agree we need more movies with less violence. I hope you are having a good week :o)

Is cat grass a special type of grass? I'm assuming it's different than what we grow in our backyards because that does not grow fast at all. Hmmmmmm.....maybe I can grow cat grass in my yard and have a nice green lawn? Probably not. Karma sure seems to enjoy it anyhow.

AliceKay--With the way the movies have been for so long, I am used to the shooting, explosions, etc. But this was personal, one-on-one torture and everybody seemed evil in the end. Hard to explain.
I like thrillers, too, but don't like the horror movies, either. ;)

Sue--Iggy's right. That was "I Am Legend" with Will Smith. It was a remake of "The Omega Man" with Charleston Heston (which I preferred because I didn't like the special effects creatures that could climb and leap about in the new one--as if humans would morph into those things practically overnight--duh!) I do like a good end of civilization movie, tho. ;)
Glad your comments are coming thru now. :)

Iggy--OH my gosh! I just get daily quotes for a couple of websites and I forgot he wrote "Stranger In A Strange Land"--hehe! Grok! Grok! :)

Lynn--Most pet shops sell cat grass seed. They even sell kits with the planter and everything. :)

Serena--I was just being silly. Cat grass is actually barley and/or oat seeds--plants like that. It's not grass seed like you'd grow on your lawn. In fact, I tried some actual shade lawn grass seed and Karma wouldn't eat it--hehe! I don't think she could get ahold of it as easily, because it was so thin. :)

Glad you're getting to enjoy some nice weather.

Nice quote!

Tori--I soaked up that cooler weather while it lasted, that's for sure! ;)
Love a good love quote. :):)

It sounds like a movie that leaves a imprint...unfortunately one that leans more towards breeding negativity and fear. I too wish all humanity was dedicated to love. There are no real winners in war.

Karma must have been thrilled to chow down on her cat grass ~ :)

Serena--Yes! The movie left an imprint--of total hopelessness. That's why I didn't like it. Left me feeling there wasn't any redeeming qualities in human beings--that fear and hate and revenge would win. :(

Even in Repo Men you saw there was still some spark of humanity left in the world-- as bizarre, twisted, and violent as that movie was, you know?

Things sure have changed from when The Godfather came out and people were throwing up in the aisles and having to leave the theaters. We are almost immune to graphic violence these days. I know I am--in the movies. And I was one of the majority whose stomach had churned in shock by the violence in The Godfather. Imagine the kids who have grown up with it? And they are having kids now...
